Description:

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Underwriting Analytics team at Guy Carpenter. This role can be located on a hybrid basis in any Guy Carpenter office or be remote.

The VP, Regulatory Specialist will lead insurance regulatory engagement and rate-filing activities for analytical solutions used in regulated environments. This role serves as the primary liaison with state insurance regulators and other bodies, ensuring filings, supporting documentation, and updates are delivered accurately and on time. The Specialist will partner with actuarial, legal, compliance, product, engineering, and broking teams to support end-to-end regulatory delivery.

We will count on you to:

  • Lead end-to-end regulatory filing activities, including scoping, drafting, compiling, submitting, tracking, and closing filings with state insurance departments and other relevant regulatory bodies

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulators throughout the filing lifecycle, including pre-filing consultations, formal submissions, responses to questions, hearings, and post-approval maintenance

  • Translate technical and actuarial outputs into regulator-ready materials, including narrative filings, methodology summaries, actuarial exhibits, statistical plans, forms, and rate or loss-cost pages

  • Coordinate cross-functional inputs from actuarial, product/modeling, legal & compliance, IT/engineering, and broking/account teams to produce complete, audit-ready filings

  • Manage version control and re-filing or amendment processes triggered by product changes, model updates, validation findings, or regulatory feedback

  • Maintain a filing repository, templates, best-practice playbooks, filing schedules, metrics, and timelines

What you need to have:

  • 3–7 years of experience working on insurance rate filings, regulatory affairs, or actuarial/regulatory support in property & casualty insurance

  • Hands-on experience interacting with state insurance regulators and managing complete filing lifecycles, especially for California

  • Experience preparing filing materials, including regulatory narratives, actuarial exhibits, statistical plans, forms, and rate pages

  • Ability to translate complex technical and actuarial concepts into clear, regulator-focused language

  • Proven project management skills and the ability to drive multi-stakeholder regulatory projects to completion

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, insurance, public policy, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience

What makes you stand out:

  • Familiarity with state filing systems and regulatory submission platforms, such as SERFF

  • Experience with catastrophe or property perils and familiarity with actuarial/modeling workflows

  • Actuarial credentials, such as ASA or ACAS, or relevant regulatory training/certification

Why join our team:
