Summary:
This leader will serve as the strategic owner of technical architecture, engineering vision, and delivery execution for minimum viable products (MVPs) within a diverse portfolio of new ventures. They will be responsible for defining and driving the end-to-end technology strategy, ensuring that solutions are designed with scalability, resilience, and compliance in mind from inception. Acting as a trusted advisor to cross-functional stakeholders, this leader will shape engineering practices, set technical standards, and orchestrate delivery roadmaps that balance speed-to-market with long-term sustainability. Through their guidance, the organization will establish a disciplined approach to technical feasibility assessments, integration readiness, and regulatory alignment, enabling each venture to move confidently from concept through commercialization.
Role Responsibilities:
- Define and oversee technical architecture and engineering strategy across several concurrent R&D ventures
- Lead technical design reviews and establish system requirements for MVP delivery
- Manage and scale a blended engineering model that includes both internal developers and external partners
- Ensure strict adherence to data privacy, security, and regulatory standards including HIPAA, SOC 2, and HITRUST
- Collaborate with VPs of Venture Execution and product leads on roadmaps, trade-offs, and delivery planning
- Support build/buy/partner decision-making and perform technical diligence for strategic acquisitions
Qualifications:
- 12+ years in software engineering, with 4+ years in senior technical leadership (e.g., CTO, VP Engineering, Principal Architect)
- Shipped 3+ MVPs or net-new V1 products, preferably in B2B SaaS or healthcare technology
- Full-stack technical expertise across frontend, backend, and cloud infrastructure
- Demonstrated experience with HIPAA-compliant, scalable architectures
- Familiarity with startup ecosystems, venture diligence, and commercial-grade system design
- Deep knowledge of modern technology stacks, cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure), and full-stack engineering practices
- Ability to translate business strategy into scalable, compliant technical solutions
- Strong understanding of security, privacy, and regulatory frameworks (HIPAA, SOC 2, HITRUST)
- Skilled in managing hybrid engineering teams and external vendors to deliver high-quality MVPs
Estimated Hiring Range:
At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $225,400.00 to $417,900.00.This position is also incentive eligible.
