Quanex is looking for a VP of Information Technology to join our team located in Akron, Ohio or Houston, Texas.
The Vice President of Information Technology (VP, IT) is responsible for setting and executing the enterprise technology strategy that enables Quanex’s operational excellence, growth, cybersecurity, and digital transformation objectives. This role partners closely with Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, HR, and Commercial leaders to ensure technology solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with business priorities. Reporting to the VP, Operations Excellence, the VP, IT will drive modernization of systems, data, and infrastructure while ensuring reliable day‑to‑day IT operations across Quanex’s manufacturing and corporate environments. The position can be located in Akron, Ohio or Houston, Texas with regular travel for meetings and to plant locations.

- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, data privacy, and security requirements.
- Establish disaster recovery, business continuity, and resiliency plans.
- Advance Quanex’s data and analytics capabilities to improve visibility, forecasting, and performance measurement.
- Champion responsible use of emerging technologies (e.g., automation, AI, advanced analytics) where they deliver measurable business value.
- Promote innovation while maintaining operational discipline and security.
- Own the IT budget, capital planning, and ROI evaluation for technology investments.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, integrators, and service providers.
- Negotiate contracts and ensure value, performance, and accountability from partners.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Master’s degree preferred (MBA or technical discipline).
- 12+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including senior‑level responsibility.
- Desirable knowledge of SAP 4H and Oracle netsuite.
- Proven experience leading IT in a manufacturing, industrial, or operationally complex environment.
- Strong understanding of ERP systems, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and enterprise applications.
- Demonstrated ability to align technology strategy with business and operational goals.
- Experience leading organizational change and large‑scale system implementations.
- Experience supporting multi‑site or global operations.
- Familiarity with Operational Excellence, Lean, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience modernizing legacy systems and driving digital transformation.
- Strategic and systems thinker with strong execution discipline
- Collaborative partner who builds credibility across functions

- Clear communicator able to translate technical concepts into business value

The salary range for this position is $250,000 to $280,000 with bonus potential.
