The Vice President of Investor Relations, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, will develop and lead communication related to Academy’s strategies, initiatives and performance, and serve as the primary point of contact with investors and analysts, ensuring Academy presents consistent and clear messaging to key stakeholders. Since Academy is a new public company, this position will be responsible for developing the Company’s initial investor relations strategy.
Job Description:
This position will provide existing and potential investors with an accurate portrayal of the Company’s performance and prospects. This will be a highly visible position for an individual who demonstrates strategic and analytic thinking, confidence, creativity, effective communication skills and collaboration.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or relevant field of study required
- MBA or CPA strongly preferred
Work Experiences:
- 15+ years of corporate level experience with investor engagement and relations
- Retail experience a plus
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting, and financial principals and applications
- The ability to communicate business strategies and complex financial information clearly and accurately to a variety of audiences both orally and through written material
- Proven ability to create and analyze financial models to analyze company performance relative to analyst and investor models and to effectively position the Company among its competitors
- Excellent public speaking skills with the ability to communicate confidently and effectively
- Ability to develop and articulate compelling stories addressing investors and external stakeholders
- Ability to move with the speed of a fast-paced and highly collaborative business
- Attention to details and the highest standards for accuracy and precision
- Ability to weigh factors and make decisions in alignment with strategy and core value
- Operates with the highest degree of legal and ethical integrity
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary spokesman for the Company by communicating the Company’s financial and operational performance and business outlook to current and potential investors
- Manage the Company’s relationships with institutional investors and sell-side analysts by providing clear, accurate and confident communications
- Identify investors who are underweight Academy’s stock/securities and develop a strategy to target those investors
- Responsible for creating and delivering all investor relations materials, including earnings releases, investor conferences and investor roadshows
- Develop ideas for improving investor relations and increasing the effectiveness of communications with both institutional shareholders and sell-side analysts
- Provide feedback and insight to senior and operations management on investor sentiment and industry conditions
- Provide feedback to senior management as to the expected reaction from the investment community from proposed transactions, corporate planning/budgeting and operating results
- Schedule, arrange and participate with senior management in industry and research analyst conferences, one on one meetings with investors and security analysts, conference calls with members of the financial community and roadshows to meet with targeted investors
- Arrange and coordinate analyst and investors meetings to provide pertinent information to the financial community and to provide the financial community with the opportunity to meet the Academy management and operations team
- Analyze reports prepared by the investment community concerning Academy and comparable companies and provide competitive intelligence to senior management
- Initiate discussions with sell side analysts to understand their points of view and demonstrate the confidence to confirm or challenge those viewpoints as appropriate
- Initiate and respond to written, telephone and email inquiries from members of the financial community
- Provide information to the Company’s Board of Directors on a regular basis on investor activity, stock performance, peer company comparisons and Academy stock surveillance
