Smithfield Foods is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Vice President of Foodservice Sales to lead and accelerate growth across our national foodservice channel. This executive leader will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive sales strategy that strengthens customer partnerships, expands market share, and drives profitable revenue growth across key segments including national accounts, chain restaurants, and distributor networks.

Reporting to senior leadership, the VP will leverage deep industry expertise, market insights, and a high-performance sales culture to position Smithfield as the preferred protein partner in the foodservice industry. This role requires a strategic visionary with strong commercial acumen, exceptional leadership capabilities, and a proven track record of delivering sustained, scalable results in a competitive marketplace.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Strategic Growth & Market Leadership - Define and execute the vision and long-term strategy for Smithfield’s foodservice channel to drive accelerated revenue growth and expanded market share Identify and capitalize on emerging trends, customer needs, and whitespace opportunities across national accounts, chain restaurants, and distributor networks. Drive operator demand strategies that accelerate distributor pull-through and product movement. Position Smithfield as the preferred protein partner through differentiated solutions and forward-looking market strategies.

  • Customer & Industry Leadership- Quickly establish credibility and impact with key customers including major distributors, such as Sysco, US Foods, Gordon Food Service, Performance Food Group, Shamrock and Ben E. Keith as well as chain operators. Build and strengthen executive-level relationships with key customers, distributors, and industry stakeholders Serve as a trusted strategic partner to customers—driving joint business planning, innovation, and long-term value creation. Act as a visible ambassador for Smithfield, elevating brand presence across industry events, associations, and customer engagements.

  • Commercial Excellence & Execution - Lead a high-performing sales organization to deliver against ambitious revenue and profitability targets. Full accountability for volume, net sales, profitability, trade investment, and forecast accuracy. Champion data-driven decision-making, pricing strategy, and disciplined account management to maximize performance. Navigate complex market dynamics—including supply chain, commodity volatility, and competitive pressures—with agility and precision.

  • Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Impact - Build, inspire, and develop a best-in-class sales leadership team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Partner across Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Innovation to deliver seamless, customer-centric solutions. Drive innovation in product offerings, menu solutions, and go-to-market strategies aligned with evolving foodservice needs.

WHAT WE’RE SEEKING:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business, Marketing, or related field and 15+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Leadership: 7+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development, leading business with major broadline distributors. Holds a proven track record of leading large, complex Foodservice businesses and delivering measurable results.

  • Customer Relationship Management: Demonstrated ability to build and leverage senior-level distribution relationships to drive growth and market penetration.

  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with CRM systems, sales analytics tools, and forecasting platforms.

  • Negotiation: Expertise in closing complex, high-value deals and managing vendor relationships.

  • Able to travel as needed.

  • This remote position requires residence close to a major airport.

The expected pay range for this position is $225,000 - $300,000 annually.

Smithfield Foods provides pay ranges that reflect its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the company reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of hire. Individual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, location of the position, the candidate’s qualifications and experience, internal equity, external market pay for comparable positions and budget considerations.
