As the Vice President of Engineering, you will be responsible for leading and managing our engineering team, driving innovation, and ensuring the successful execution of our product roadmap. Job Description

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the engineering department, setting clear goals and objectives aligned with the company's vision and mission.
  • Drive product development initiatives, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality robotics solutions that exceed customer expectations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including research and development, product management, and operations, to drive innovation and deliver integrated solutions.
  • Manage the engineering budget, allocate resources effectively, and optimize productivity and efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence, and collaboration within the engineering organization.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to ensure the company remains at the forefront of robotics innovation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, suppliers, and customers to drive strategic collaborations and business growth.
  • Has the responsibility and authority to:
    • Ensure that the quality management system (QMS), environmental management system (EMS), and occupational health and safety (OHS) management system conform to the requirements of ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 respectively
    • Ensure that processes needed for the QMS, EMS, and OHS management systems are established, implemented, maintained, and are delivering their intended outputs
    • Report to top management on the performance of each management system, risk opportunities for improvement, and any need for change or innovation
    • Ensure the promotion of awareness of customer focus throughout Nauticus Robotics, and;
    • Ensure the integrity of the QMS, EMS, and OHS management systems is maintained when changes are planned and implemented

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role, ideally within the robotics or automation industry.
  • Strong technical background and expertise in robotics systems, software development, and hardware integration.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and managing large engineering teams, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Track record of delivering complex robotics projects from concept to commercialization, meeting time, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate through technical challenges and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to align engineering efforts with business goals and market demands.

Preferred

  • Advanced degree (master's or Ph.D.) in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience working with autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, or machine learning algorithms.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and certifications applicable to robotics and automation.
  • Demonstrated success in driving innovation, patents, and intellectual property development.
  • Strong network and relationships within the robotics industry, academic institutions, and research organizations.

Additional Information

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to remain in a stationary position. The employee will be required to operate a computer and will consistently use other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. as necessary.
  • The employee must possess the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
  • The employee will frequently move, transport, position, install, and or remove equipment of at a minimum of 50 pounds for various needs.
  • The employee must possess the ability to observe details at close range.
  • The employee must be able to ascend/descend a ladders and maneuver in tight spaces.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment and in industrial environments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This role will also require the employee to complete work on variety of offshore platforms, various bodies of water, and small vessels. While performing some duties of this job, the employee will be required to travel domestically and internationally to field sites. Conditions may include exposure to heat, cold, a variety of offshore platforms, and bodies of water loud environments, small vessel maritime conditions, and 12-hour shifts.

The performance of this position may also occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas, which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
