Moonsong Labs is a web3 protocol and AI engineering services and venture studio business.  We have expertise in developing software to support blockchain and AI implementations.  Our venture studio incubates new businesses building decentralized developer infrastructure and AI protocols.  Examples of our work include the project Moonbeam, a blockchain that implements an Ethereum compatible environment and natively supports cross chain use cases.  And Kluster AI (https://kluster.ai/) a decentralized large AI model inference and fine tuning platform.

Your Role

We are looking for a VP of Engineering Services to join the Moonsong Labs team to lead our Engineering Services team on a day to day basis.  The VP of Engineering Services acts as a bridge between the engineering org and other business stakeholders.  The main responsibility of this role is to manage and mentorthe Engineering Services team, provide technical oversight across projects, and make sure that engineering services are delivered with high quality to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate has experience running and managing engineering team(s).  This role involves being the voice of engineering and engaging with the business operations and account management teams to ensure profitability and customer satisfaction for engineering services delivered.  Key responsibilities include technical leadership, establishing a culture of continuous learning and growth, hiring, performance assessments, setting and enforcing standards, supporting growth and acquisition of new business, and assessing and mitigating project risks.  Knowledge of software engineering, web3, and AI is highly desirable.

What you'll do:

• Lead Engineering Services on a day to day basis.  Management & mentorship of the MSL Engineering Services teams.  This includes working alongside managers through issues they are grappling with and helping them learn and grow as engineering managers.
• Provide technical oversight across software  infrastructure projects in the web3 and AI domains.  Ability to facilitate troubleshooting of technical issues and coordinate technical responses.
• Be a primary engineering point of contact with other internal teams, closely collaborate with business operations and account management to ensure profitability and successful customer outcomes.
• Overall responsibility for service and deliverable quality and that contractual customer deliverables and requirements are met.
• Overall responsibility for technical project risk assessment, work with other business stakeholders to mitigate these risks.
• Partner with bd and account management to be the voice of engineering in growing the engineering services business, renewing existing business, and addressing any service related issues and concerns.
• Championing and implementing standards, tools, and best practices across the org including software quality, testing, license compliance, and other areas.
• Foster an environment of learning, growth and technical excellence within the  engineering services team.  Develop and manage programs that drive engagement and training, combating team based siloes.
• Achieve high levels of engineer employee satisfaction, maintain low attrition and lead necessary recruitment initiatives.
• Manage engineer performance evaluation process and promotions.

What you will bring:

• Previous experience running and managing a software engineering team.
• 8-10 years of relevant working experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline.  Master’s degree is a plus.
• Hands on software engineering IC background and experience is highly desirable
• Experience delivering web3, AI, and opensource software projects is highly desirable as is working in a complex software services environment.
• Knowledge of software security best practices.
• Experience prioritizing technical issues and risks, understanding which resources need to be brought to bear for solutions.
• High level of commercial awareness, good understanding of business and financial management.
• Good writing skills with an ability to explain complex concepts and issues in a clear and accessible way.
• Demonstrated ability to present to and work directly with an executive customer audience.
