Location: Fremont, CA

Role Overview

The Vice President Engineering of Power Conversion and Electrical Balance of System (eBOS) is a senior executive responsible for leading Nextpower’s global engineering organizations in these product areas. This role provides overarching technical leadership, organizational direction, and product strategy for power conversion solutions and eBOS architectures that support utility-scale solar and renewable energy systems.

The VP of engineering oversees a global team of 40+ engineers across multiple disciplines—power electronics, firmware/software, electrical engineering, systems engineering, testing, and reliability—ensuring world-class product execution and long-term technology differentiation.

Key ResponsibilitiesExecutive Leadership & Strategy
  • Define the long-term technology roadmap for Power Conversion and eBOS product lines, aligned with corporate objectives and market evolution.

  • Serve as the primary technical authority for all engineering decisions within these domains.

  • Provide clear vision, prioritization, and resource direction for multiple engineering groups globally.

  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Operations, Supply Chain, and Executive Leadership to drive product portfolio success.

Engineering Team Management
  • Lead, mentor, and scale global teams of 40+ engineers, fostering a high-performance culture focused on innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Develop organizational structure, roles, and competencies needed to meet business and technology objectives.

  • Oversee recruiting, career development, succession planning, and performance management across the engineering organization.

Product Development & Technical Leadership
  • Ensure all power conversion and eBOS products meet Nextpower’s standards for performance, reliability, cost, and scalability.

  • Guide teams through full product lifecycle — concept, architecture, design, validation, certification, launch, and sustaining engineering.

  • Drive cross-functional alignment on specifications, testing requirements, and design milestones.

  • Promote engineering rigor, including system modeling, simulation, design reviews, and root-cause analysis.

Operational & Program Management
  • Oversee development schedules, budgeting, resourcing, and risk management across multiple concurrent engineering programs.

  • Establish engineering processes that improve quality, speed, and predictability of product delivery.

  • Ensure compliance with global standards, regulatory guidelines, and industry best practices for power electronics and electrical systems.

Stakeholder & External Engagement
  • Act as the executive engineering representative in key customer interactions, technology partnerships, and industry forums.

  • Support supply chain and manufacturing teams in evaluating new technologies, components, and strategic suppliers.

  • Drive collaboration with external research institutions, certification bodies, and advanced technology partners.

QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field.

  • 15+ years of engineering leadership experience in power conversion, power electronics, or electrical systems.

  • Proven track record leading large, globally distributed engineering organizations.

  • Deep technical expertise in inverter design, power conversion systems, grid integration, or eBOS architectures.

  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.

Preferred
  • Experience in utility-scale solar, energy storage, or renewable energy product environments.

  • Demonstrated success delivering high-reliability hardware products to global markets.

  • MBA or relevant business leadership training.

Pay is based on market location and may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education and other job-related reasons. The annual salary range for this position is $300,000 to $340,000.
