Organizational Overview:
Synchrony's Risk Team provides independent oversight of Synchrony’s risk-taking activities to ensure safety and soundness, meet regulatory and legal requirements, and manage risks to the risk-appetite of the Board. Risk is responsible for independently assessing, quantifying, and overseeing risks & providing effective challenge. Risk serves as Synchrony’s Second Line of Defense.
Overall, Risk Team oversees and manages the Risk Program to support the business in anticipating and addressing risks, issues and challenges. Results are consistent with the respective strategic uses and complying with related overall risk, risk testing policies, standards, procedures as well as regulations. Our Risk organization consists of 4 pillars: Compliance, Credit & Financial Risk, Enterprise Risk and Operational Risk. Each of the pillars play a vital role in managing Risk and supports the business in anticipating and addressing risks, issues, and challenges.
Role Summary/Purpose:
The eGRC Solution Architect is an individual contributor who partners with one or more Agile teams within the Risk Infrastructure delivery team to support Risk & Compliance stakeholders. This role translates enterprise GRC objectives into technology solutions that automate, standardize, and integrate governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance processes. The architect designs end-to-end solutions, decomposes complex objectives into actionable deliverables, evaluates and aligns technical standards and tools, and provides technical leadership across the full delivery lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and deliver GRC solutions: Serve as the GRC technical architecture lead supporting multiple concurrent initiatives, designing end-to-end solutions that span GRC functions, provide design guidance, conduct architecture reviews, and resolving complex technical decisions.
Translate requirements into technical solutions: Work with stakeholders, including Risk and Compliance leaders, to understand GRC requirements and translate them into actionable, technology-based solutions.
Lead technical implementations: Guide and support development teams and related technical resources through the configuration and deployment of GRC software platforms.
Provide technical and architectural guidance: Serve as the subject matter expert for GRC frameworks, processes (e.g., RCSA, Issue Management, Compliance Risk Assessments), enabling technologies, and industry best practices. Partner with business stakeholders and technical teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions; lead architecture/design reviews; mentor teammates; and maintain architecture diagrams and technical documentation.
Manage project oversight: Oversee the technical vision of GRC projects, ensuring delivery excellence, security, and sustainability while also managing timelines, scope, and resources alongside project managers.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
Bachelor's Degree and 10+years of overall experience or equivalent leadership program experience or in lieu of degree High School Diploma/GED 12+ years of overall experience or equivalent leadership program experience
Deep GRC domain knowledge: Strong understanding of GRC concepts and core processes (e.g., RCSA, Issue Management, Compliance Risk Assessments) and how they align to risk and control objectives.
GRC platform expertise: 5+ years of hands-on advanced configuration/development experience with leading GRC platforms, including ServiceNow IRM, Archer, SAI360.
Solution architecture experience: 5+ years designing and delivering end-to-end GRC solutions on ServiceNow, Archer, or SAI360, including target-state architecture, standards, and non-functional requirements.
Problem-solving and analytical skills: Proven ability to assess business needs, evaluate risk and control impacts, identify trade-offs, and design scalable solutions that meet functional requirements.
Desired Skills/Knowledge:
Architectural and technical skills: Proficiency in designing complex systems, cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), and enterprise integration via APIs and data pipelines.
Communication and stakeholder management: The ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
