The role is a Product Manager (DPM) position accountable for delivering a first-class digital data experience for all Custody clients.
Working with the broader Custody product, operations and technology teams — and as a core member of the Data & AI team — the role involves creating, organizing, enhancing, and building scalable digital and data products that are fit for purpose and support the needs of clients and internal stakeholders. The successful candidate will operate with a true DPM mindset — owning product outcomes end-to-end, driving strategy through data, and shipping with velocity and precision.
This role requires an individual with strong digital product expertise, with a particular focus on how to actively apply AI tools, agentic workflows, and Machine Learning to transform how Custody clients interact with their banking partner — and how internal teams build and deliver products. Critically, the candidate will bring a data product management capability: the ability to define, govern, and scale data as a first-class product with its own lifecycle, consumers, quality standards, and roadmap.
Custody industry experience across settlement, safekeeping, corporate actions, and asset servicing domains; and/or working in broader Financial Services organizations will be advantageous but is not essential.
You should have previously built, led, and scaled digital and data products; developed innovative and impactful solutions to provide clients with the capabilities they need to drive their strategic objectives. You are comfortable using AI-powered tools — from ideation and prototyping through to JIRA generation, code review, and insight synthesis — as a core part of your daily workflow.
You are a change agent, intellectually curious, and passionate about delivering business outcomes through data, AI, and technology.
Responsibilities
- Champion and define product strategy as a Digital Product Manager — identify and champion opportunities to leverage Citi's scale, bringing new digital and data products and services to the Custody Data & AI team to further its strategic agenda. Act as the DPM voice of the Custody client, translating business needs into a prioritized, outcome-driven product roadmap.
- Drive the end-to-end lifecycle of high-quality, user-centric digital and data products — from identifying needs, designing solutions, and prioritizing development, through to shipping products and scaling adoption. Apply DPM best practices including OKR-driven prioritization, continuous discovery, and iterative delivery.
- Own and manage Data Products — define, govern, and evolve data assets as first-class products with clearly articulated consumers, SLAs, data quality standards, lineage, and access controls. Apply data-as-a-product thinking to ensure Custody data is discoverable, reliable, and valuable to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Embed AI tools into the product development workflow — actively leverage AI-powered platforms (including agentic AI, LLMs, and AI-assisted SDLC tooling) to accelerate research, prototyping, requirements generation, JIRA story creation, and delivery. Champion the use of AI across the Custody Data & AI team to compress time-to-market and improve output quality.
- Collaborate with governance teams, UX design, data engineering, and software engineers to deliver high-quality, delightful products to Custody clients — leveraging AI-augmented design and development practices — whilst maintaining rigorous data accuracy, completeness, security, reliability, and adhering to firm-wide standards and policies while managing associated risks.
- Foster continuous improvement by implementing efficient processes, reducing time to market, and proactively identifying and resolving issues through root cause analysis. Use data and AI-generated insights to inform prioritization and measure product impact.
- Qualifications
- 10+ years of pertinent experience within Custody or a comparable Financial Services domain — such as settlement, safekeeping, corporate actions, or asset servicing — with a demonstrable track record operating as a Digital Product Manager (DPM), owning products end-to-end with an outcome-oriented, agile mindset.
- Data Product experience — proven ability to define and manage data as a product, including experience with data mesh principles, data contracts, consumer-centric data design, data quality frameworks, and data lineage. Comfortable bridging the gap between data engineering and Custody business stakeholders.
- AI knowhow in practice — proven track record in developing and deploying AI and Machine Learning forward solutions, including hands-on experience with LLMs, agentic AI workflows, AI-assisted SDLC tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Stylus Workspaces, or equivalent), and applying these technologies to real Custody business problems. This is an active practitioner requirement, not theoretical awareness.
- Proficient in User Experience (UX) design, including AI-augmented UX research, client segmentation, and persona development — driving tailored and impactful solutions for Custody clients.
- Proven ability to apply design thinking principles to complex problems, fostering innovative and human-centered solutions across both digital interfaces and data products.
- Proven track record in leading product development of digital and data client products from ideation through to execution and adoption — including experience with OKR-driven roadmaps, agile delivery, and continuous discovery.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple products and workstreams simultaneously across a global, matrixed organization.
- Thought leadership experience — via industry events, journals, and targeted articles, ideally spanning digital product management, data products, and AI within Custody or broader Financial Services.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with experience in using data analysis, product metrics, and AI-generated insights to drive decision-making and demonstrate product value.
- Attention to detail is a must, with excellent verbal, written, and relationship skills to be used to interact with a global group.
- Optimizes work processes by balancing effective and efficient delivery with a focus on continuous improvement — demonstrating the ability to see the "big picture" while maintaining close attention to detail
- Education
- Bachelor's / University degree
- Master's / MBA (preferred)
