About This Job
The VP, Commercial Lending Operations is responsible for leading end‑to‑end operational execution across Axos’s Commercial & Industrial (C&I), Non‑Real Estate, Fund Finance, and/or Floorplan Lending platforms. This leader ensures operational excellence across loan onboarding, funding, servicing, portfolio management, documentation, and compliance. The role requires deep commercial lending expertise, strong operational discipline, and the ability to drive scalable processes, risk controls, and cross‑functional collaboration.Responsibilities:
- Manage commercial loan documentation—both internal and attorney‑prepared—to ensure compliance with policies and regulations, and address audit findings as needed
- Oversee receipt and accuracy of diligence items from customers, brokers, and third parties to support efficient loan origination and processing
- Serve as a primary liaison with internal teams and external partners (Legal, Title, Escrow, Vendors, Insurance) to maintain smooth transaction flow and timely status updates
- Review and maintain accurate loan data in systems such as nCino, Salesforce, and Jack Henry to effectively manage pipelines, workflows, and funding deadlines
- Support process‑enhancement initiatives, including training team members to improve operational efficiency and service quality
- Ensure funding conditions are met, documentation is complete, and funds are disbursed accurately and on time
- Execute day‑to‑day loan processing activities, monitor workflow, clear bottlenecks, and uphold processing standards throughout the loan lifecycle
- Identify operational risks and partner with relevant business units to strengthen workflows, align with regulatory expectations, and enhance overall controls
- Lead a team of Commercial Lending Specialists responsible for managing commercial loans and maintaining high‑quality servicing standards
- Collaborate across lending units to refine, implement, and improve processes that support accurate and compliant commercial loan servicing
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years of experience in Commercial Lending Operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership position
- Paralegal experience/certification preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Proficiency in lending software systems (preferably, Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with data analysis tools is preferred
