The Vice President, Client Relations (VPCR) position is a highly visible leadership role with overall accountability for assigned clients within Enterprise Strategic Accounts, a portfolio of large, innovative, self-funded employers. This position is responsible for cultivating deep client relationships and for executing strategies that drive growth, portfolio expansion, client satisfaction, and long-term partnership value.
The VPCR works in close collaboration with executives and cross-functional leaders to deliver outcomes and accelerate innovation for their employer clients. The VPCR must have deep knowledge of enterprise assets and solutions - including Surest and Optum offerings - as well as emerging innovations in the market. Success in this role requires deep expertise in the large employer space, strong relationships (with clients, consultants, and internally), and a clear understanding of evolving healthcare industry trends.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Own senior executive relationships for assigned accounts, ensuring a dep understanding of clients' business objectives, workforce need, and benefits priorities
- Advance enterprise-wide UnitedHealthcare and optum solutions, aligning medical, pharmacy, care delivery, analytics, and digital capabilities to achieve client objectives
- Develop and execute client specific strategies that drive retention, growth, and client satisfaction
- Leverage executive relationships across UHG to accelerate decision-making and deliver differentiated value
- Lead through influence across Account Management, Product, Clinical, Network, Operations, Finance, Marketing, Actuarial, Underwriting, Data Analytics, and Optum teams to ensure strategic alignment and exceptional service delivery
- Provide regular executive-level updates to senior leadership on client strategy, performance, innovation, and results
- Maintain a strong command of healthcare industry trends, the competitive landscape, and emerging solutions for large employers to continuously evolve client strategy and enterprise offerings
- Build relationships and partner collaboratively with key consultants in the market

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Experience supporting large, national employer accounts in healthcare
- Proven success managing complex client relationships
- Deep knowledge of health benefits, healthcare delivery, and enterprise solutions
- Solid business and financial acumen
- Demonstrated ability to lead collaboratively, think enterprise-wide, and execute with discipline
- 25-50% travel
- Must have state issued Life & Health Insurance license or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $200,400 to $343,500 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
