Morningstar's U.S. Strategic Account Sales team is responsible for helping our wealth management and asset management clients build their businesses and provide better outcomes for investors through our data, research, and software solutions.
The Role:
The Morningstar U.S. Strategic Account Sales Team seeks a highly motivated VP, Business Development focused on aggressively growing a book of assigned clients and prospects within the Wealth and Asset Management segments. You will represent Morningstar's suite of capabilities including Data, Research, Direct & Reporting, Advisor Workstation/Direct Advisory Suite, Direct Web Services, and work with Sales Specialists on opportunities for ESG, Indexes, Market Data, etc. Because this role covers opportunities across the U.S., it will require approximately 25-50% travel. This position is based in our Chicago office.
Responsibilities
- Establish and build key C-suite client relationships and act as the Morningstar ambassador within the client's enterprise.
- Uncover client business needs and work with Pre-sales, Deal Design, Customer Success, and Product teams to identify the optimal solution.
- Understand key industry trends and themes and successfully align those with Morningstar solutions to help clients address their strategic initiatives.
- Build a deep understanding of our clients' business and deliver a high level of customer centricity.
- Uncover, cross sell, and upsell opportunities within assigned book of business with a hunter mindset.
- Proactively progress, forecast, and close sales opportunities to exceed revenue targets.
- Implement account strategies by building relationships with internal and external groups, including product, marketing, customer success, and cross-Morningstar teams.
- Document daily activities in Morningstar's CRM system to build and maintain an accurate pipeline and forecast revenue targets.
What You Will Bring
- Candidates should have at least seven years of sales and account management experience in the finance and investment industry.
- Proven track record of exceeding prior annual sales targets.
- Prior experience leading enterprise and strategic relationships with a focus on net new revenue growth.
- Hands-on, organized individuals who can build long-term client relationships.
- Strong leadership, long-range planning, and time-management skills are essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities and the ability to deliver professional and persuasive presentations.
- Ability to understand complex investment concepts
Requirements • A bachelor's degree required, MBA or CFA a plus.
Total Target Cash Compensation Range:
$115,925.00 - $208,675.00 USD Annual
