The role
Flutterwave is seeking a seasoned Vice President (VP) of Business Development to execute business development efforts. This role will be responsible for driving sales, expanding merchant partnerships that will be contributing meaningfully to Flutterwave bottom line. You will report directly to the Head of Enterprise and will join our global team of payments enthusiasts that enjoy helping our merchants succeed in Africa’s fragmented payments landscape.
What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be Like
1. Strategic Business Development Leadership:
- Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies, aligning them with the company's overall growth objectives
- Identify new business opportunities, market trends, and potential partnerships to expand Flutterwave globally.
2. Sales and Revenue Growth:
- Lead the effort to achieve and exceed sales targets, driving merchant onboarding and revenue growth. Your responsibility will be to build the pipeline, negotiate, guide implementation and bring the merchant live. Once the customer develops into a meaningful size the account is handed over to our Account Management team.
5. Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Regularly review business development performance metrics and provide insights and recommendations to drive continuous improvement
- Prepare comprehensive reports for senior management, detailing the progress and achievements of the business development team
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other departments, such as marketing and product development, to align strategies and achieve overall company objectives
- Ensure personal information of customers, employees, and other individuals the company conducts business with is processed and protected in line with applicable data privacy policies, privacy laws, and global best practices.
7. Industry Insights and Networking:
- Stay abreast of market trends, industry changes, and competitor activities in the market.
- Attend relevant events, conferences, and networking opportunities to represent Flutterwave and gather market intelligence
- Understand the global players in money movements
Required competency and skill set to be a waver.
- 15+ years of proven experience in business development, sales, or a related leadership role, with a focus on the local market
- Demonstrated success in driving sales growth and achieving revenue targets
- In-depth knowledge of the global payments market, industry trends, and be able to spot opportunities for Flutterwave to demonstrate value.
- Exceptional relationship management and networking skills with the ability to build and maintain strong partnerships, must be a likeable character, optimistic, friendly and has ability to build trust through knowledge.
- Strong analytical skills to assess performance metrics, identify opportunities, and make data driven decisions
- Strategic mindset with the ability to envision and execute long-term business goals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to present complex ideas and information to both internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing market conditions
- Knowledge and experience in providing and selling a global payments platform to global enterprise merchants
