TEGNA is seeking an accomplished sales leader to serve as Vice President, Ad Sales, leading local advertising sales strategy and performance across our markets.
The Vice President, Ad Sales is accountable for driving revenue growth and sales performance across our markets. This leader will lead and develop local sales leaders, establish clear priorities and ensure teams are executing strategies that deliver results for our advertising customers and TEGNA.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading sales organizations, developing high-performing leaders, achieving revenue goals and driving consistent execution across multiple markets.
The position reports to the SVP, Ad Sales.
Responsibilities:
Provides leadership and direction to local sales leaders across TEGNA, with accountability for advertising revenue and sales performance.
Leads, coaches and develops local sales leaders, setting clear expectations and driving accountability for revenue and performance goals.
Develops and executes sales strategies that drive revenue growth across TEGNA’s markets and platforms.
Partners with local sales leaders to strengthen new business development, grow existing advertiser relationships and identify new revenue opportunities.
Drives a solutions-based sales approach that helps teams deliver effective, multi-platform advertising strategies for clients.
Establishes clear performance expectations and uses data, forecasting and market insights to evaluate results and identify opportunities.
Partners with Digital Sales, marketing, finance, revenue operations and other functions to align strategy and execution.
Identifies and shares best practices across markets to improve sales effectiveness and performance.
Builds strong sales leadership pipelines and succession plans across the organization.
Monitors advertising trends, competitive activity and changing customer needs to identify opportunities for growth.
Leads the monthly sales performance reporting process, ensuring accurate and timely forecasts, clear analysis of results against goals, and accountability for addressing performance gaps and executing corrective action plans.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, advertising or related field and 10+years of advertising sales and sales leadership experience.
Proven track record of achieving revenue growth and leading sales organizations across multiple markets.
Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop senior sales leaders and high-performing teams.
Strong understanding of multi-platform advertising sales, including linear television, streaming and digital.
Strong financial and business acumen with experience managing revenue goals, forecasting and performance.
Demonstrated success developing and executing sales strategies across a complex, decentralized organization.
Strong understanding of new business development and client retention strategies.
Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision-making capability.
Proven ability to lead change and drive consistent execution across multiple markets.
Effective communicator and collaborative leader who can influence across all levels of an organization.
Ability to travel based on business needs.

TEGNA offers two medical plan options for full and part-time employees through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, as well as access to dental and eye care coverage; fertility, surrogacy and adoption assistance; disability and life insurance.

Our 401(k) program offers full, part-time and temporary employees the opportunity to contribute 1% - 80% of their pay on a pre-tax basis to TEGNA’s 401(k). Contributions made up to the first 4% of pay are eligible for a 100% match from the company and are 100% vested from day one.

Regardless of participation in TEGNA medical plans, ALL employees and their eligible family members receive nine free virtual doctor’s appointments with a physician through Teladoc, and 12 free annual therapy sessions with a licensed clinician through Spring Health.

TEGNA offers a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) benefit as well as nine paid holidays per year.
