Sony Pictures Entertainment is seeking a top-tier acquisitions executive to drive sourcing, evaluation, and deal execution for its Worldwide Acquisitions business. This role sits at the center of the global film marketplace, responsible for identifying and securing high-potential feature film opportunities ahead of the competition.
The Vice President is expected to operate with urgency, conviction, and a clearly defined point of view—combining elevated creative taste with disciplined commercial judgment. Key Responsibilities
Proactively originate and pursue acquisition, financing, and production opportunities across the global film landscape
Build and leverage deep relationships with filmmakers, producers, agents, managers, and financiers to secure early access to projects
Evaluate scripts, packages, and completed films with strong judgment around audience, positioning, and commercial potential
Rigorously assess key deal components—including attachments, budget, financing structures, and comparable performance—to determine strategic value
Maintain real-time awareness of market activity, including packaging trends, bidding dynamics, and competitive behavior
Develop and sustain a high-quality pipeline of differentiated, high-conviction opportunities aligned with Sony Pictures’ slate strategy
Identify emerging filmmakers and creators across both traditional and digital ecosystems ahead of broader market recognition
Synthesize creative evaluation and market intelligence into clear, actionable recommendations
Present opportunities and advocate positions directly with senior leadership, demonstrating sound judgment and conviction
Business Impact
This role is critical to executing Sony Pictures’ strategy of acquiring, financing, and producing elevated, moderately budgeted theatrical films. The Vice President will play a direct role in shaping the studio’s pipeline by securing projects that combine strong commercial potential with a distinct creative voice.
Projects will span a range of genres and budget levels and be distributed across Sony Pictures’ labels, including Columbia Pictures, Screen Gems, TriStar Pictures, Stage 6 Films, Sony Pictures Classics, and global ancillary platforms. The mandate is to deliver a consistent flow of high-quality films that are both market-driven and culturally relevant.

Qualifications
8+ years of experience in acquisitions, development, production, representation, or related entertainment or digital roles
Demonstrated ability to originate, champion, and close high-quality projects or talent

Established network across filmmakers, agents, managers, producers, and financiers
