The Role

The Vice President, Acquisition Team Manager plays a critical role in driving Ascent’s strategic growth by leading and scaling a high-performing team of individual contributors responsible for originating new client relationships and actively participating in client acquisition efforts across existing and expansion markets. This role manages and develops a high-performing Client Acquisition Team while also serving as a hands-on contributor through direct cold calling and selling of Ascent’s platform.

The VP leverages internal and external data sources to identify, evaluate, and convert prospective clients, working closely with senior leadership and cross-divisional partners—including credit, underwriting, and capital markets—to ensure alignment between client acquisition efforts and lending execution.

Key Responsibilities.

  • Lead and manage the Client Acquisition Team, whose primary responsibility is cold calling and selling the Ascent platform to prospective clients, often serving as the first point of contact from the Sales organization.
  • Apply a strong understanding of construction real estate lending and financial processes to assess borrower needs, structure appropriate solutions, and clearly articulate Ascent’s value proposition.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to refine go-to-market strategies and support efficient loan execution.
  • Serve in a working management capacity by personally engaging in cold calling, prospecting, and closing new client opportunities.
  • Leverage, enhance, source, validate, and integrate internal and external real estate data tools to support client acquisition and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Identify and evaluate prospective clients using both qualitative insights and quantitative analysis.
  • Develop and maintain robust metrics and reporting related to outreach activity, conversion timing, pipeline health, data integrity, and client feedback.
  • Systematically capture and report key market intelligence from prospect conversations, including insights on geographic markets, lending products, competitive landscape, and borrower strategies.
  • Translate market intelligence into actionable recommendations to inform and refine sector and expansion strategies.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Acquisition Team Associates, fostering a performance-driven, entrepreneurial culture.
  • Collaborate closely with senior executives and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with firm-wide growth priorities.
