Full-time & Part-time

Voter registration is a crucial first step in increasing voter turnout and allowing voters to impact critical elections. We will be registering new voters who agree with our progressive values and want to see Trump removed from office. We’ll stop people in heavily trafficked areas and walk them through the process to register to vote. By engaging community members and motivating new voters, we are working to ensure that the electorate accurately reflects the diversity and interests of all! 

This role is a great opportunity to gain experience in the following areas: Leadership, Communication & Advocacy, Community Outreach & Engagement, Campaign Work, Public Policy,  and Social Enterprise.

Get paid well! Canvass positions start at $20/hour. Leadership positions start at $21/hour. We offer a $1/hr bonus to staff who are bilingual in English and Spanish.

Locations: Racine, Eau Claire, La Crosse, and Beloit WI

We are hiring immediately; all positions run through September 20th, with possibilities for advancement afterwards. Shifts run from 10:45 a.m.–6:30 p.m., Tuesday–Sunday, with the possibility to work part-time or full-time

Canvasser Responsibilities ($20/hr):

  • Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner
  • Deliver a compelling campaign message, and collect complete and valid voter registration forms 
  • Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills
  • Strictly follow all local, state, and federal laws around voter registration
 

Team Leader Responsibilities ($21/hr):

  • The Canvasser Responsibilities plus:
  • Manage a small group of canvassers out in the field by checking in with them periodically throughout the day and debriefing with them at the end of the day
  • Ensure each canvasser has all of the materials they need to be safe and successful
  • Assist directors with canvasser training and administrative work
 

The ideal candidate:

  • Passionate about progressive politics and fostering democracy
  • Strong communication skills; you should enjoy working with other people and be willing and excited to speak with everyone
  • Hard worker who will stay motivated to engage as many people as possible
  • Open to new challenges and are interested in building their campaign skills
  • Culturally competent and able to respectfully engage with teammates and the community
  • Prior voter registration experience is strongly preferred, but not required.

Skills Required

  • Eligible to work in the U.S. and able to present original, unexpired I-9 documents upon hire.
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts (Tue-Sun ~10:45 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.) and through the campaign period (positions run through Sept 20).
  • Available to work on-site in Racine, Eau Claire, La Crosse, or Beloit, WI.
  • Engage with the public, deliver campaign messaging, collect complete and valid voter registration forms.
  • Strictly follow all local, state, and federal laws around voter registration.
  • Participate in staff training and follow supervisors' guidance.
  • Strong communication skills, motivation, and cultural competence for community engagement.
  • Prior voter registration or canvassing experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (eligible for $1/hr bonus).
  • Ability to manage and check in with a small team of canvassers (for Team Leader role).
  • Passion for progressive politics and campaigning.
