ABOUT NOTRE DAME HIGH SCHOOL

OVERVIEW OF POSITION
This position is responsible for leading the vocal rehearsals of 2027 Spring Musical at Notre Dame High School.
The Vocal Director will be responsible for the following duties:

Leading the rehearsals during vocal days (with the present support of the Director) towards teaching the cast every song/number associated with the production. This includes overall notes/rhythms, musicality, projection, diction, and character-based performance/acting notes related to the delivery of the songs.

Actively providing constructive feedback and notes to the performers, and identifying students that may need additional one-on-one help for certain sections, and then finding time for and leading those smaller sessions.

Work with the Director to generate a full vocal rehearsal calendar which outlines which songs will be taught on which days, along with identifying any and all review days and tech rehearsal note days. The full calendar, ranging from January 2027 to March 2027, should be completed and available to the students no later than January 4th, 2027.

Attend auditions on Monday December 7th, Wednesday December 9th, and Thursday December 10th for the purposes of appraising auditioners and leading singing-specific elements of the process, which could include teaching short passages of certain songs and providing feedback to auditioners during callbacks.
- Bachelor's degree in Music, Vocal Performance, Music Education, or related field (or equivalent professional experience in musical theater vocal direction)
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a vocal director, music director, or vocal coach for musical theater productions, preferably in an educational or youth theater setting
- Strong working knowledge of vocal technique, music theory, and sight-reading/rhythm instruction
- Demonstrated ability to teach and rehearse choral and solo vocal music across a range of skill levels, including diction, projection, and character-driven performance
- Experience providing individualized vocal coaching and identifying performers who need additional support
- Experience participating in or leading audition/callback processes, including teaching short vocal excerpts and evaluating singers
- Ability to pass a LiveScan/Fingerprint background check and complete all required onboarding documentation by the stated deadline
- Reliable availability to meet the specified rehearsal, audition, and onboarding dates (December 7, 9, 10, 2026; January 4, 2027 deadline; rehearsals January–March 2027)
- Comfort working with high school-age students in an educational, Catholic school environment
Skills Required
