About This Opportunity 

Role Profile 

Position: VMI Specialist

Job Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Job Type: Full-Time 

Status: Non-Exempt

Summary of the Role

This position will be responsible for maintaining and growing appropriate inventory at multiple designated customer sites by managing their inventory, providing outstanding customer service, and driving account growth. This position will also help customers understand how LGG Industrial can provide solutions to their business needs.

 

Responsibilities

  • Must maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures, both at LGG Industrial and customer facilities

  • Ensure product stocking levels by scanning for ordering purposes to help maintain accurate inventory levels

  • Make deliveries of products from the local branch to the customer locations using either a company van or a box truck

  • Receive and stock purchased product in designated customer locations

  • Resolve customer problems promptly to retain and promote customer loyalty

  • Help create new orders by engaging with customers to identify additional product needs

  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities in productivity, process, and cycle time

  • Probe for customer needs during each site visit and works with sales partners to expand company offerings

  • Implement scanning tools in designated customer sites, where needed

  • Spend approximately 60% of time servicing customers in the field at customer sites

  • Serve as the liaison between the Sales Representative, Branch and the customer

  • Enters orders into ERP

  • Perform other duties as trained and qualified for

  • Handle different technical and operational issues

  • Ability to communicate effectively with the customer, customer service reps and account reps in a professional manner, both oral and written

  • Must be able to work independently

  • Good computer skills are a must. Applicants should possess the ability to interact with customers, and team-members in a professional manner

  • Requires a proficiency in math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in units of measure. Additionally, must be able to perform calculations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.

  • Basic mechanical skills including the use of hand tools.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older

  • A high school diploma or equivalent

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record

  • Reliable transportation is a must

  • Ability to work overtime, as required

  • Ability to work nights and weekends, as required

  • 1-2 years of warehousing or production experience in an industrial setting

  • 3 years' experience in selling or service environment

  • Inventory control experience is required

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Experience with VMI is highly desired

  • The ability to pull, push, grasp, bend, lift and carry up to 50lbs on a regular basis.

  • Background checks, drug screening may be required (as warranted by Company, Customer or DOT requirements in working on-site and operating equipment)

 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This role includes a mix of office, warehouse, and customer site environments. Warehouse and customer site environments may involve exposure to varying environmental conditions such as noise, temperature changes, or dust. The office environment may require using standard office equipment (such as computers, phones, and printers). Reasonable accommodations are available to support individuals with disabilities in performing the essential functions of this role.

  • Ability to pull, push, grasp, bend, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs independently on a repeated basis. Heavier items may be moved with team assistance or mechanical aid.

  • Ability to work at varying work-surface levels and machine operation heights.

  • Ability to move above or below workstations or retrieve items from various heights.

  • Ability to work in a stationary position for extended periods of time.

  • Frequent operation of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment.

  • Ability to travel to customer locations and job sites as needed, which may involve driving or other modes of transportation.

  • Ability to move freely throughout the job site, including on occasional uneven surfaces, for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders or stairs, as required.

  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions and safety procedures.

  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.

  • Ability to comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, inventory sheets, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to count, measure, and record data accurately.

  • Ability to respond to safety signals, alarms, and verbal instructions.

  • Ability to inspect products and materials to detect imperfections, defects, or irregularities and ensure quality and compliance.

  • Ability to properly and safely use mechanical equipment and tools, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse machinery (training and certification may be required).

  • Ability to enter and exit a service vehicle and other mechanical equipment multiple times per day. 

  • Occasional exposure to warehouse or shop floor environments, which may include noise, dust, and varying temperatures.

  • May involve occasional handling of products, samples, or materials when assisting with customer orders.

  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, hearing protection, or hard hats, depending on task or site conditions.
