Reuters is looking for an experienced television news journalist to join our exciting, fast-paced global news hub in Barcelona. You will have outstanding news judgement and will be passionate about winning the big stories for a global client base that includes more than 1,100 broadcast and digital media outlets. You will work with our team of producers to ensure a high quality of scripts and storytelling for our Global Desk. You will have demonstrated a strong ability to remain focused and organised under pressure and thrive working with and leading high-performance teams.
Please note: This is a staff position on a shift pattern that involves some weekend work.
About the role:
As our Sub Editor you will:
- Ensure our scripts are accurate, impartial and move quickly.
- Be across style changes and work with editors to evolve our style as client needs and products change.
- Be customer-focused and pitch story ideas which travel well for broadcast and digital platforms.
- Mentor and train junior members of our team.
- Adhere to Reuters Trust Principles
About You:
You should apply if you have:
- At least 8 years’ experience in professional journalism in a broadcast or agency environment.
- Excellent news judgment and a solid track record of working in a breaking news environment.
- The ability to write clear, concise copy at speed and to edit written material quickly.
- An eye for detail: the sub-editor is the guardian of our standards.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Fluent English – written and oral.
