The Department of Psychology at Butler University (Indianapolis, IN) invites applications for a one-semester, non-tenure track visiting assistant professor position beginning January 2027. We seek a colleague who demonstrates active dedication to inclusive undergraduate teaching. The Butler Psychology Department values candidates who share our commitment to engagement and inclusion of students, faculty, and staff with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. Butler cannot provide visa sponsorship for this position.
This position requires full-time, in-person instruction. A Ph.D. in Psychology (or a closely related field) at the time of appointment is required. The successful applicant will be broadly trained in applied psychology and ready to teach in a multidisciplinary university core curriculum. Standard teaching load is 4 courses (12 credit hours) per semester. We seek a colleague who will be ready to teach required psychology courses such as Introductory Psychology, Research Methods & Statistics, as well as content courses in their area of expertise (e.g., developmental, industrial-organizational, health, clinical, cross-cultural, or sports psychology). The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to evidence-based and engaged-learning pedagogies and to building an inclusive classroom environment for an increasingly diverse student body.
