Job Description

The School of Business at the University of Mount Saint Vincent invites applications for a full-time Accounting faculty position. The anticipated start date is January 2027. The position will remain open until filled.

We welcome applications from all areas of accounting, including but not limited to:

  • Financial Accounting;
  • Managerial and Cost Accounting;
  • Auditing;
  • Accounting Information Systems;
  • Individual and Business Taxation;
  • Forensic Accounting.

Commensurate with qualifications and experience, applicants considered for the position of Visiting Professor in Accounting is a  full-time  academic year faculty position with a 21 credit teaching load, with the potential for tenure-track appointment. Applicants considered for the position of full-time Instructor will have a full-time 21 credit teaching load per academic year, non-tenurable position.  Teaching load is usually a 4/3 or 3/4 Fall/Spring split.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate accounting courses consistent with School of Business needs, faculty qualifications, and applicable accreditation and regulatory requirements;
  • Demonstrate commitment to innovative, student-centered pedagogy, including experiential, project-based, and technology-enhanced learning approaches;
  • Teach high-quality asynchronous online courses that foster engagement, instructor presence, and meaningful student interaction;
  • Assess and grade assignments, projects, and exams with actionable feedback, returning them to students promptly;
  • Provide in-person and virtual office hours each week to support students with guidance and refer them to support services as needed;
  • Engage in ongoing professional development in both the academic discipline and teaching methods;Collaborate with other faculty members to align course requirements and contribute to departmental goals.

Requirements
  • A Master's degree in Business or Accounting is required, while a PhD or DBA is preferred
  • Certified Public Accounting certification
  • Experience teaching undergraduate accounting courses across various levels would also be advantageous

The allotted salary range for for this position is $70,000 - $80,000
