About the Role
We're looking for a Sr. Motion Designer who can move fluidly between 2D and 3D, and between concepting wide and finishing tight. You sketch ideas in motion before anyone else has committed to a direction, then carry that thinking all the way through to a polished, air-ready piece.
This is a hands-on craft role first: you're in the timeline, in the comp, building the work yourself. But when a look needs a decisive call fast, under a live deadline or a client in the room, you're comfortable stepping in to direct it and owning that call. Whether you're animating a bespoke 3D environment or finishing a 2D graphic package, the throughline is the same: motion that feels unmistakably Netflix.
What You’ll Do
- Animate across 2D and 3D to bring brand DNA to life in motion, from quick concept sketches to fully finished pieces.
- Concept wide before committing to a direction, then build the toolkits and systems that let that idea scale across a live show.
- Extrapolate a creative vision into fully functional motion work, keeping technical excellence intact from first frame to final render.
- Use new tools and emerging technology to move faster and push the visual quality of what you deliver.
- Step in to direct a look when a call needs to be made fast, and finish the polished work yourself when it doesn't.
About You
- You move naturally between 2D and 3D, and between concepting an idea and finishing it as final art.
- You think wide before you commit, a "daydreamer" who can imagine the take before locking into one.
- You're organized and disciplined in your files, so your work is a benefit, not a burden, to whoever picks it up next.
- You can step in and direct a look under pressure when the moment calls for it, and hand it back once the direction is set.
- You build inroads with cross-functional partners and stay a positive presence under a live deadline.
The Must-Haves
- 10+ years of motion design experience across 2D and 3D, with a portfolio in high-end broadcast or live event work.
- Strong command of both 2D and 3D animation, comfortable moving between After Effects and Cinema 4D as the work demands.
- A portfolio demonstrating strong concept work as well as finished craft, proving you can originate a direction and execute it.
- Proven ability to turn a flat design system into a dynamic, animated experience across formats.
- Proven success using AI tools to speed up asset creation or exploration.
- Comfortable stepping in to direct a look in a pinch without losing the ability to execute it yourself.
- Deep technical understanding of render pipelines, finishing, and delivery for live broadcast.
Even Better
- Experience with particle simulations, procedural tools, or advanced toolkitting across 2D/3D pipelines.
- Studio art direction experience or designing in-venue AR/VR experiences.
- Experience translating creative beyond the broadcast into Platform.
Why This Role Matters
This role brings the brand DNA to life in motion, moving fluidly between 2D and 3D so every live moment feels unmistakably Netflix. You're the one who can concept wide, execute with craft, and step into the director's chair when a look needs a fast, confident call. That range is what keeps our live properties moving as fast as the moments they're covering.
