Leidos Digital Modernization is seeking a Virtualization / VMware Administrator for our CITS contract with the USCENTCOM customer. The position is based in Tampa, Florida.

As the Virtualization / VMware Administrator, you will be accountable for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our organization's virtual infrastructure, focusing on VMware technologies. This role will involve managing virtual machines for servers, desktops, and networking components critical to the operations of our enterprise environment.

What will you do in this role?

We are seeking a highly skilled Virtualization / VMware Administrator with demonstrated experience in designing, deploying, and managing VMware environments. You will:

  • Deploy and maintain VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and virtual machines across multiple physical sites.

  • Perform regular maintenance, updates, and patches to ensure the security and reliability of the virtual infrastructure.

  • Monitor and optimize virtual infrastructure performance, resource utilization, and system availability.

  • Implement and manage VMware networking components such as distributed switches and VLANs.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to VMware virtualization technologies, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and virtual machine management.

  • Work with other IT teams to design and implement infrastructure solutions that integrate with virtualization technologies and align with command requirements.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior administrators and team members to foster a deeper understanding of virtualization technologies and their role within our infrastructure.

  • Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtual machines and infrastructure components.

  • Develop and maintain documentation related to virtualization architecture, processes, and procedures.

  • Evaluate and recommend new VMware technologies and solutions to enhance system performance and efficiency.

  • Support projects to enhance the security, efficiency, or capability of the virtualized environment.

  • Work with vendors and third-party providers for troubleshooting and issue resolution.

  • Ensure compliance with security policies, regulations, and best practices related to virtualization technologies.

These are the Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 years', Associate and 9 years', High School diploma/GED and 10 years' or Master's and 3 years' relevant work experience.

  • Current Top Secret/SCI clearance

  • Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification (Security+ce or equivalent)

  • Ability to travel up to 10% OCONUS for exercise engagements 

  • Valid and Current U.S. Passport

  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing and troubleshooting VMware vSphere infrastructure.

  • Experience with VMware technologies including ESXi, vCenter Server, vSAN, and vSphere Networking.

  • Strong understanding of virtualization concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Ability to review, modify, and prepare comprehensive documentation for virtualization tasks.

These are the Preferred Qualifications

  • VMware Certified Professional

  • (VCP) or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP)

  • ITIL 4 Foundation Certification

  • Prior work with VMware Horizon for virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI)

  • Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible or PowerCLI for automation tasks.

  • Prior work with USCENTCOM and comprehension of its mission and IT environment.

Pay Range:Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
