Exciting Career Opportunity: Join Our Elite Navy Air (NAVAIR) Solutions Group as a Dynamic Virtual Network Engineer at Whidbey Island, Washington!
Are you passionate about cutting-edge technology and national security? We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Virtual Network Engineer to join our growing team supporting our Navy Air (NAVAIR) Solutions Group. This is a fast-paced and dynamic environment, where you will work with a diverse engineering team and external vendors to resolve complex issues and develop new operational features supporting end-user operators and system administrators. As the onsite Subject Matter Expert (SME) and lead Virtual Network Engineer for NAVAIR’s Minotaur data distribution and virtual environment, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the seamless operation of our state-of-the-art systems that provide a mission essential Minotaur Command Operating Picture (COP) to U.S. military and Homeland security on various tactical and operational platforms.
Responsibilities:

Installation & Configuration:

  • Install, manage, and update virtual software systems and applications.

  • Design, develop, test, and implement new features to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency of the Minotaur data distribution system.            

  • Interface with end-users to identify and implement user experience enhancements.            

  • Build and incorporate automations using scripting languages like Python and Bash, to streamline software updates, virtual machine management, and other repetitive tasks.            

Audit & Verification:            

  • Ensure network configurations align with the latest revisions and Cyber/Information Assurance policies.            

Troubleshooting:            

  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project management personnel to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.            

Design & Documentation:            

  • Recommend and document network architecture, concept designs, change implementation plans, and risk.            

  • Design and develop changes to existing systems to enhance performance.            

Industry Collaboration:            

  • Work closely with external engineers and software vendors, acting as a technical liaison between development, operations, and project/program management teams.            

Analysis & Recommendations:            

  • Continuously evaluate system performance and recommend process and system design improvements to increase efficiency, scalability, security, and reliability.            

  • Analyze, develop and implement testing procedures, programing and documentation.            

Qualifications:
Required: 

  • Clearance: TS/SCI with Polygraph.             

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field OR Associate degree with four years of specialized experience OR Major certification with six years of specialized experience OR High school diploma with eight years of specialized experience      

  • Certification: Current US Department of Defense 8570 Approved IAT II or higher (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent/higher). Must be obtainable within 90 days of start.

Desired:
Experience:

  • Navy Distributed SIGINT Operations (DSO). Working knowledge of SIGINT (Signals Intelligence, which includes ELINT and COMINT).

  • Minotaur mission systems.            

Technical Skills:            

  • Expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or CentOS.

  • Expertise in VMWare ESXi and Horizon 8.

  • Expertise in Microsoft Server environments, core services like Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.

  • Proficiency in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting classified systems and networks.            

  • Strong knowledge of Routing Protocols, OSI 7 Layer Model, IPv4/IPv6, DNS, DHCP.            

  • Experience with Cisco Routing and Switching.

  • Programming skills in Python, Java, and SQL.            

  • Knowledge of NetApp/ONTAP Solutions.

Certification:            

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP), VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP), Cisco Certified Network Associate.

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$75,200-$158,100
