Job Description
We’re looking for a Video Producer cum Presenter to lead the
creation of high-quality visual content for our BBC News Marathi service. The
successful candidate will be expected to make videos, define the visual
identity of a story and bring it to life through digital and social platforms.. From concept
to final cut, you’ll play a key role in driving editorial integrity,
storytelling innovation, and audience engagement across platforms.

Collective Newsroom which has been set up by some of the BBC’s most experienced
journalists in India. It has more than 250 journalists and operational staff,
bringing you distinctive, impartial and world-class content and is the BBC’s
sole provider of content for its Indian language websites and social media
platforms including English. Based in the BBC’s largest international market,
we bring you the best of Indian journalism guided by the world’s biggest and
most reputable news organization. We provide digital, audio and television
content in Hindi, Tamil, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi and Telugu as well as
English.

Key Responsibilities
- This role
involves editorial control, video production, making strategy and planning
stories and series for Marathi service’s social media platforms.
- Act as a
final check for accuracy, impartiality, and legal compliance (Libel,
Contempt of Court, and Privacy) before publication.
- You will
pitch, develop original video concepts and oversee their execution from
pre-production to post-production.
- This role
will work for daily video output of BBC Marathi and ensure all content
meets the BBC’s rigorous editorial standards while pushing the boundaries
of digital storytelling.
- Present
and deliver live segments, studio explainers, and digital-first video
formats with confidence and clarity.
- Manage
cross-platform responsibilities, working seamlessly across web publishing,
video production, and on-screen presentation.

attention to detail
Requirements
Knowledge, skills, training and experience
- Confident and presentable on camera for
explainers, digital videos, and live or recorded segments.
- 1- 5 years
of relevant experience in a reputable media company, with published
material showing a record of high-quality stories.
- A deep
understanding of the BBC Editorial Guidelines and a sharp "news
sense."
- Marathi
language proficiency is essential along with strong English communication
skills.
- Knowledge
of International affairs, social-cultural issues of India.
- Knowledge
of video production from ideation to final output.
- Working
knowledge of basic video editing tools will be an added advantage.
- A broad
understanding of the target audience is important.
- A high
standard of editorial judgment and production skills.
- Ability to
work under pressure and deliver material under tight deadlines.
- Strong
interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse talents
- Understanding
of SEO, headlines, thumbnails, and audience metrics for web platforms
- Ability to
spot stories early and understand why they matter for young and women
audiences, and translate web stories into short, engaging video formats.
Skills Required

What We Do
Collective Newsroom is an independent content-production company founded by four former senior BBC employees in India. Launched on 10 April 2024, it produces news content for providers in India and globally, with the BBC as its first client. The company supports news organizations by developing locally informed, globally relevant journalism and editorial material for audiences across Indian and international markets.
