The Athletics Department seeks to project positive external messages through various messaging platforms (video boards, social media, live streaming), engaging constituents with interesting and informative content to increase connection and interaction with the University at large.
The Video and Digital Content Specialist is responsible for producing William & Mary videoboard assets, still graphics, and animations for game day presentations in athletics venues. In addition, this position produces special event graphics and presentations to support special Athletics events and initiatives.
Job Description:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Experience shooting and executing video projects, using professional standard equipment.
- Working knowledge of videography, multimedia editing techniques, and the use of advanced photography equipment (SLR cameras, strobes, etc.).
- Demonstrated skills in the operation of broadcast-level field cameras, and electronic video and editing equipment.
- Outstanding computer skills with in-depth knowledge of video editing software (Adobe Premiere), imaging software (Adobe Photoshop), and Daktronics video systems.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate creatively using video and images.
- Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships with technical and non-technical clients.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications or a field directly related to the position.
- Prior experience working for a Division I athletics program.
Conditions of Employment:
- Working in support of a wide variety of athletic events, both on and off campus, requires occasional overnight travel, nights, and weekend coverage of events.
- This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.
- This position is restricted, subject to the continued availability of funding.
Duties:
70% - Oversee videoboard operations
- Ensure accuracy and quality of video board content.
- Collaborate with Daktronics to manage systems and/or software.
- Create, and manage videoboard content; including video assets, still graphics, and animations, for game presentations.
- Collaborate with athletics marketing on the run of the show and required elements for in-game presentation.
- Collaborate with campus partners on video board and run of show needs for University events, such as commencement, Charter Day, etc.
20% - Video projects
- Produce and direct video projects for Tribe Athletics to create unique and creative marketing/publicity videos to highlight sporting events and other featured content for marketing and social media campaigns.
- Analyze and plan the creative approach to shooting and editing material to incorporate computer graphics and electronic special effects to meet the overall specifications of the project.
10% - Student assistants/other:
- Oversee and provide directions to intern and student assistants at staff games and other events to provide coverage for necessary run-of-show elements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Hiring Range: $48,000- $51,000 commensurate with experience.
