Capabilities, Experience & Qualification Requirements
Experience
- 10+ years’ professional experience in risk management at a bank or similar
Qualification Requirements
- Tertiary or Post Graduate Degree in Risk, Finance, Commerce, or Law or related discipline;
- 10+ years front line, first or second line risk/assurance experience
Key Accountabilities
- Act as the Risk Division's DCO and central coordination point for divisional control activities
- Maintain oversight of key controls, obligations, assessments and compliance activities across the Risk Division
- Coordinate periodic control attestations and control effectiveness reviews.
- Ensure control deficiencies, findings and remediation activities are appropriately tracked, escalated and closed
- Drive continual uplift of control governance and operational risk management practices
- Support development, review and maintenance of Risk frameworks, policies, standards and guidance documents
- Coordinate policy review cycles, attestations and governance approvals
- Ensure governance artefacts remain aligned with regulatory obligations and NAB risk requirements
- Provide constructive challenge and recommendations to improve policy effectiveness and usability
- Monitor risk events, audit findings, regulatory actions and treatment plans impacting the Risk Division
- Coordinate responses to Internal Audit, External Audit and assurance reviews.
- Track remediation activities and escalate overdue or high-risk matters.
- Support root cause analysis and identification of sustainable remediation actions
- Produce high-quality governance reporting, dashboards and executive insights for Risk leadership
- Analyse risk trends, findings, control performance and emerging issues
- Prepare materials for governance forums and senior stakeholder review
- Ensure accuracy, completeness and timeliness of governance reporting
- Identify opportunities to simplify governance processes and improve control effectiveness
- Support implementation of strategic Risk Framework initiatives
- Drive automation, standardisation and reporting enhancements
- Promote strong risk culture and accountability across the Risk Division
- Partner effectively with Risk Leadership Teams, Business Management, Compliance, Operational Risk, Audit and Enterprise control functions
- Build trusted relationships to influence governance outcomes and drive timely action
- Provide guidance and support on Risk Framework and control-related matters
