Summary

Vice President of Supply Chain is a strategic leader that oversees supply chain, logistics operations and purchasing strategies and execution to enable sustainable growth that achieves business objectives. Business objectives are achieved through, among other things, effective inventory management, competitive pricing, increased efficiencies, process and operational improvements, creative and analytical problem solving and collaboration. This position interacts with executive leadership, business and operations, as well as external vendors to ensure optimal working relationships, service and results.

You Will Have the Opportunity To:

Maximizes supply chain capabilities in demand planning, warehousing, distribution, logistics and inventory management. Develops supply chain, sourcing and sales and operations planning solutions that support operations and growth objectives. Looks for new and/or innovative ways to maintain a competitive cost structure, delivers consistent quality and service and leads and develops a high impact team.

  • Drive and deliver competitive advantage and cost savings for Materion by managing the execution of world-class supply chain management operations.

  • Responsible for the development, monitoring, and benchmarking of key supply chain performance indicators, and using these indicators in operational decisions. 

  • Establishes supply chain contingency plans for sole source or critical items to prevent supply interruption

  • Develop and implement programs to improve production quality and efficiency.

  • Actively participate in the enforcement of all policies, rules, regulations as promulgated by the VP of Procurement.

  • Analyze Operational procedures and recommend changes to improve effectiveness and efficiency. Maintain and compile summary reports on Supply Chain Operations activities.

  • Select, guide, train and motivate BU level category managers, purchasing managers and buyers to provide procurement services that optimize customer service, cost, quality, delivery, and inventory levels.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or supply chain management, MBA preferred

  • 15 years progressive supply chain management or operations management experience in a leading organization; including a minimum of 5 years in materials management, raw material interfacing with R&D, marketing, and operations to define material needs and at least 7 years managing a team of people.

  • Professional certifications (CPM, APICS) a benefit.

Experience

  • At least 10 years of manufacturing industry supply chain experience with five years in a senior leadership capacity

  • Experience developing and implementing supply chain capabilities with meaningful impact

  • Significant experience in production planning and scheduling logistics management

  • Established success with change management and working through organizational change.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • SAP

  • Excellent negotiation skills up to and including the executive level.

  • Solid understanding of contracting requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience with leveraged agreements and multi‐year contracts.

  • Expert in financial analytical skills, and quantitative analysis.
