Title and Summary

Vice President, Software Engineering

Dynamic Yield by Mastercard, is on the lookout for an experienced VP R&D to lead our global R&D Department.
As our VP R&D, you’ll help drive the organization to success through its growth into the next stage and help define the policies and direction we are taking as an Organization. You will also help integrate the company into Mastercard and align plans and goals. The company runs a SaaS service that is based on AWS and is running at large scale with an emphasis on big data and AI/ML technologies providing a significant technical challenge.
You'll lead an international development team spread across 2 locations with a great latitude of freedom to shape the organization to deliver the requirements needed for the business to succeed. You will need to balance the business and technical needs of the organization and services to deliver quickly but with great quality. You will also need to adapt the organization to its new scale and continue scaling it up.
This is a role for a visionary technological leader with strong interpersonal and managerial skills, a team player who is passionate about empowering their employees and genuinely passionate about coding and cutting edge technologies, and experienced in building and scaling best in class tech organizations.
The Task-at-Hand
* Leadership and Management:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of R&D professionals, including software engineers and engineering leaders.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the R&D department.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the company's R&D goals and objectives.
- Create a positive work environment and a place for our employees to love.
* Product Development:
- Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of SaaS products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, and customer support, to align product development with market needs and business goals.
* Innovation and Research:
- Identify emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and maintain the company's competitive edge.
- Encourage and support research initiatives that lead to the development of new products and features.
* Build an efficient R&D organization:
- Drive the adoption of best practices in software development.
- Implement and drive efficient engineering culture including agile methodologies, DevOps, DevEx, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)..
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of R&D projects, making adjustments as necessary to ensure successful outcomes.
* Stakeholder Communication:
- Communicate R&D strategies, progress, and outcomes to the executive team and other stakeholders.
- Provide insights and recommendations to the leadership team to support strategic decision-making.
- Work closely with Product Managers, Business Managers, and senior management on the company's strategy
About you
* 10+ years of experience in R&D and 5+ years of experience leading, managing, and scaling medium/large R&D teams in corporate environments
* Proven track record of managing large teams and delivering successful SaaS products.
* Strong understanding of software development methodologies, tools, and best practices.
* Familiarity with B2B SaaS platforms
* Cross-platform knowledge (web, mobile, back-end)
* Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a large team.
* Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
* Deep knowledge of SaaS products and the technology landscape.
* A “Can-Do” mentality and mindset
* Experience with Big Data and AI - an advantage
* Self-motivated, detail-oriented, with well-developed interpersonal communication * skills and a strong desire to succeed
