Vice President, Software Engineering - Agentic AI
Mastercard is seeking a visionary Vice President of Software Engineering - Agentic AI to join the Foundry R&D Engineering team. In this role, you will lead the research, development, and application of Generative and Agentic AI technologies to deliver innovative products and services that redefine the future of commerce. This is an exciting, cutting-edge leadership position that requires a highly motivated candidate who is intellectually curious about emerging technologies and possesses the creativity and leadership skills to drive groundbreaking solutions from concept to commercialization.

Responsibilities• Provide strategic leadership and vision in Generative and Agentic AI technologies, including architecture and real-world applications.• Partner with business and product owners to design, develop, and deliver innovative products and services.• Lead complex, enterprise-wide initiatives that span multiple services and programs, driving resolution and successful outcomes.• Recruit and hire top talent, ensuring each new hire raises the overall capability of the team.• Continuously engage with teams to improve performance through regular meetings, coaching, mentoring, and fostering growth at all levels.• Benchmark and promote engineering excellence, productivity, and quality across the organization.• Represent the company by leading or participating in internal and external events.
Experience• Proven expertise and passion for Generative and Agentic AI technologies.• Hands-on experience as a Software Engineer.• Demonstrated success in managing medium-to-large development organizations, with strong thought leadership, cross-functional influence, and collaboration skills.• Proven experience in product development and partnering with business teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.• Skilled in evaluating and selecting technology tools, frameworks, and products.• Ability to clearly articulate complex architecture patterns and their business and technical implications to executive and customer stakeholders.• Ability to coach teams on full-stack development and promote end-to-end service ownership.• Experience fostering standard software patterns and reuse of common libraries and services across engineering teams.• Expertise in optimizing SDLC methodologies, defining metrics, and automating processes to improve lead time and quality.• Skilled in performing architecture and cost analysis for public and private cloud environments.

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. Mastercard benefits for interns generally include: 56 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time; jury duty leave; and on-site fitness facilities in some locations.
Pay Ranges
O'Fallon, Missouri: $200,000 - $320,000 USD
New York City, New York: $240,000 - $384,000 USD
