About The Role

We are seeking an experienced and visionary leader to join our team as VP, Applications & Platform Software. As the head of our Applications & Platform Software organization, you will be responsible for driving the development and delivery of our next-generation robotics platform and customer facing robot applications. You will oversee a team of talented engineers and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to deliver a robust, scalable, and user-friendly platform that empowers our end-users to maximize the value of their robotic deployments. 

About The Work

  • Own the design, building, and support of our Management Platform product, an end-user facing tool for deploying, commissioning, configuring and managing our robotics solutions. Basic capabilities include rolling out software updates to a robot fleet, configuring workcells, defining robot workflows, monitoring status, and collecting performance data.
  • Own the development of customer facing applications that are part of the robot workflows executed in the field. These applications include perception, manipulation, navigation and other core robotics capabilities. 
  • Own the design, building and management of our cloud infrastructure that supports the enterprise and products. Includes build system and test tooling, deployed services for both internal and external use, cost reporting, and on-call support.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and commercial teams to ensure that the platform meets the needs of our customers and supports our company's strategic and business objectives
  • Establish and enforce technical standards and best practices for software development
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the development of the Arc product
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the Applications & Platform Software team
  • Manage and mentor a team of talented engineers
  • Represent the Applications & Platform team at senior leadership-level meetings and presentations
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in the robotics industry

About You

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of production robotics experience 
  • 15+ years of experience in software development and architecture
  • Proven track record of leading and managing high-performing teams
  • Proven experience in building and managing large-scale, distributed software systems
  • Deep understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong bias towards action and not afraid to jump head first into challenging problems
  • Authorization to work in the USA

  • Previous experience building software platforms to support the deployment of a fleet of mobile robots
  • Previous experience in logistics, manufacturing, or other scaled automation industries.
