Job Summary: We are seeking a Vice President, Senior Project Manager to provide leadership for healthcare projects and client relationships throughout Northern California and Hawaii. This role combines executive-level project management, strategic client engagement, and business development responsibilities to support the continued growth of Salas O'Brien's Healthcare practice.
The successful candidate will lead complex healthcare projects, cultivate and expand client relationships, collaborate with the Marketing team on business development initiatives, and support project delivery efforts with healthcare leadership teams across the region. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to clients while mentoring project teams and helping drive the continued success of the healthcare market sector.
Responsibilities:
Project Leadership & Delivery
- Lead complex healthcare projects from planning through completion, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with client expectations.
- Provide executive-level project oversight for multidisciplinary teams, coordinating efforts across architecture, engineering, planning, and consulting disciplines.
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risk mitigation strategies, and resource planning to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Maintain a high standard of quality and client service throughout all phases of project delivery.
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for healthcare clients, fostering long-term relationships and exceptional client satisfaction.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing healthcare clients throughout Northern California and Hawaii markets.
- Collaborate with clients, design teams, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders to successfully advance project objectives.
Business Development & Market Growth
- Partner with the Marketing Director and healthcare leadership team to identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within the Northern California and Hawaii healthcare market.
- Support proposal development, client presentations, interviews, and contract negotiations for prospective and existing healthcare clients.
- Represent Salas O'Brien at industry events, professional organizations, and client-facing engagements to enhance market visibility and strengthen industry relationships.
- Develop and execute client engagement strategies that support the continued growth of the Healthcare practice.
Strategic Collaboration
- Work closely with healthcare leaders and project teams in Hawaii to support project delivery, client engagement, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Collaborate across offices and disciplines to leverage firmwide resources, technical expertise, and best practices in support of healthcare projects.
- Contribute to strategic planning efforts that support the continued growth and success of the Healthcare practice.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Mentor project managers and project team members by sharing best practices, project leadership techniques, and client management expertise.
- Foster a collaborative, client-focused culture that reflects Salas O'Brien's values and commitment to excellence.
- Support recruiting, onboarding, and professional development initiatives as the Healthcare practice continues to grow.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Administration, Architecture, Engineering, or related field required.
- PMP, CCM, DBIA, or other project management and construction-related certifications preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in project management, with a strong portfolio of healthcare projects
- Minimum of 8 years of HCAI/OSHPD experience
- Demonstrated leadership in building and managing high-performing technical teams
- Strategic thinker with the ability to influence, integrate, and align teams across regions
- Strong client relationship and business development skills
- Effective communicator and collaborator with internal teams and external partners

Compensation & Benefits:
The expected base salary range for this role is $160,000 - $175,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
