The VP, Product Strategy is a key leadership member of the Optum Insight Product & Services team, responsible for setting and driving the Optum Insight product strategy that simplifies outcomes across payers, providers, and consumers within the healthcare system.
This leader will define a clear, cohesive, innovative strategy that aligns Optum Insight's portfolio to the most critical healthcare problems - reducing complexity, improving affordability, enabling better clinical and administrative outcomes, and delivering measurable value at scale. The role partners closely with Product, Technology, Operations, Growth, and Finance leaders to translate strategy into focused roadmaps, investment priorities, and execution plans.
The VP will bring an outside-in, systems-level perspective, ensuring Optum Insight's products work together as an integrated ecosystem rather than a collection of point solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:
Enterprise Product Strategy & Vision
- Define and own the multi-year product strategy for Optum Insight, grounded in innovating, disrupting and simplifying payer, provider, and consumer/patient experiences and outcomes
- Establish a clear strategic narrative that connects market needs, customer outcomes, portfolio direction, and enterprise priorities
- Translate complex healthcare challenges into focused strategic choices, trade-offs, and sequencing decisions
Portfolio Simplification & Value Creation
- Lead efforts to simplify the product portfolio, reducing fragmentation, overlap, and unnecessary complexity while increasing customer clarity and value
- Drive alignment across payer, provider, and consumer-facing capabilities to ensure solutions work together to deliver end-to-end outcomes
- Identify opportunities to standardize platforms, rationalize offerings, and scale repeatable capabilities across markets and customers
Market, Customer & Ecosystem Insight
- Maintain a deep understanding of healthcare market dynamics, customer needs, regulatory forces, and competitive landscapes
- Represent the voice of the customer and the system - balancing payer economics, provider workflows, and consumer/patient experiences
- Partner with Growth and Commercial leaders to ensure strategy is grounded in real customer problems and scalable demand
Strategic Planning & Investment Alignment
- Partner with Finance, Product, and Technology leaders to align strategy, capital investment, and operating plans
- Inform prioritization decisions across build, buy, partner, or sunset options based on strategic fit and outcome impact
- Establish clear criteria for evaluating strategic initiatives, big bets, and long-term innovation investments
Operating Model & Execution Enablement
- Work closely with Product and Delivery leaders to ensure strategy is translated into actionable roadmaps and execution plans
- Enable strong governance and decision-making forums that accelerate progress while maintaining strategic discipline
- Monitor progress against strategic objectives and adjust direction as needed based on results and market signals
Leadership & Influence
- Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the Optum Insight executive team
- Build strong, cross-functional partnerships and influence without direct authority
- Develop and lead a high-performing strategy organization with a strong bench of talent

Required Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience in product strategy, management consulting, healthcare technology, or related leadership roles, including experience at the executive level
- Deep understanding of the U.S. healthcare system, including payer, provider, and consumer dynamics
- Proven track record of defining and executing enterprise-level product or business strategies at scale
- Demonstrated ability to simplify complex portfolios and drive clarity, focus, and measurable outcomes
- Solid executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders and align diverse stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience operating in a matrixed, highly regulated environment
- Background in healthcare data, analytics, technology platforms, or services
- Experience leading through transformation, portfolio shifts, or large-scale change
- MBA or advanced degree

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $225,000 to $375,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
