Job Overview

Learning A-Z (LAZ) strives to inspire curiosity, ensure comprehension, and instill the joy of learning for elementary students. We focus on innovation, resource flexibility, market-responsiveness, and research-based practices.  LAZ aims to deliver effective, affordable, and easy-to-use supplemental elementary resources that can be used anywhere learning takes place.

We are seeking a Vice President of Product Management to lead a team in delivering effective evidence-based literacy solutions. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience building innovative solutions, thriving in an environment with diverse stakeholders, and inspiring a team of Product Managers. You will be responsible for ensuring a nuanced understanding of customer needs through qualitative and quantitative analysis; discerning where LAZ can effectively drive impact. The Vice President articulates customer needs, product/initiative visions, and investment value propositions. Working with UX, creative, learning design, and software development teams, the Vice President facilitates the creation of effective solutions for learners.

Job ResponsibilitiesProduct

  • Synthesize multiple discovery channels and identify viable product themes that can be used by Product Managers to define roadmaps.
  • Identify key revenue, efficacy, and usage drivers and investment opportunities to achieve bookings and revenue targets.
  • Formulate the portfolio strategy around impact goals. Set up systems to regularly measure leading indicators and outcomes. Leverage data, analytics, market analysis, and research to inform the overall portfolio strategy to design more effective development plans. Ensure the teams clearly define metrics to move and mindfully monitor ROI.
  • Ensure the packaging and product experience is designed to enable accessible entry points and clear expansion paths to deepen impact.

Process

  • Ensure portfolio and product learning plans reflect best practices in qualitative and quantitative market research and insights.
  • Create portfolio discovery plans and work with individual contributors to create discovery plans for their domains. Establish processes and systems to rapidly examine problems to solve and the value of potential solutions.
  • Leverage deep knowledge of core engineering, UX, creative, and learning design processes to estimate, prioritize, and address team backlogs.
  • Proactively equip Go-To-Market partners with accurate information and critical tools for successful go-to-market activities.
  • Institute a test-and-learn culture. Innovate on our product based on user feedback and manage the assessment of analytics to inform product design and priorities

Leadership

  • Create a culture of insight.  Model and build systems to ensure regular and productive engagement around qualitative, quantitative, technical and industry insights.
  • Sustain an environment for professional growth by ensuring team members understand their roles, priorities, and job expectations. Position them to successfully achieve their goals.
  • Develop and model a consistent set of product development practices, troubleshoot blockers and provide constructive feedback.
  • Create a sense of mission and unity by promoting a culture of agility, innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Input systems to engage stakeholders formally and informally in insight-gathering and product planning and delivery.

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years experience leading cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes. 5+ years Product Management experience at Director level or above.
  • Experience in the EdTech market and in the elementary market, literacy preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, ability to think strategically and creatively, business savvy.
  • Proven experience in supporting business transformation, effective collaboration, agility, technical excellence and the successful delivery of content and technical solutions that drive business and learning impact.
  • Proven experience in developing relationships, building presence, and commanding alignment with stakeholders and executives.
  • Ability to manage and motivate teams of highly skilled knowledge workers in a rapidly changing market segment.
