Position Overview: The Vice President of Software Platform will be responsible for shaping and executing the strategy for our software platform. This role involves leading a team of engineers and developers, managing the development lifecycle, and ensuring that our software solutions meet the highest standards of quality and performance. The VP will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including program management, product management, quality, architecture, operations, sales, and customer support, to align software development with business goals.

Specifically, this means:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive software platform strategy that aligns with the company’s overall business objectives.
  • Identify and prioritize key initiatives, opportunities, and technological advancements to drive the platform’s growth and evolution.

Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the software development team, including engineering managers, software developers, and QA engineers.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.

Product Development:

  • Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from planning and design to deployment and maintenance.
  • Ensure that software solutions are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with product management to understand market needs and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and customer support teams to ensure that the software platform meets customer expectations and drives business growth.

Technology and Innovation:

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to ensure the platform remains competitive and cutting-edge.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance the software development process.

Budget and Resource Management:

  • Develop and manage the software development budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and alignment with financial goals.
  • Optimize resource utilization and address any staffing or project-related challenges.

What You Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years’ proven experience in a senior leadership role within software development, with a strong track record of successfully managing large-scale software projects and teams.
  • Deep understanding of software development methodologies, technologies, and best practices.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with executive leadership, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with Agile and/or other software development frameworks.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing, DevOps, and modern software architecture patterns.

Salary is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  This position is also eligible for an incentive compensation plan.  The expected hiring salary for this position is:

$230,000.00 - $290,000.00
