Expedia Group is seeking a strategic and visionary Vice President of Performance Marketing to lead our global efforts in driving customer acquisition through Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and Metasearch. This role will oversee a substantial P&L, a dedicated technical team of advanced analysts and data scientists deep diving into channel insights and opportunities, spearheading cross-functional initiatives across all Expedia Group brands in key global markets to optimize performance and deliver growth at scale. The P&L covers marketing on Search Engines including Google, Bing, Naver, Yahoo JP and Metasearch placements including Google Hotel Ads, Trivago, Kayak, Skyscanner and TripAdvisor – globally with all Expedia Group brands.   

 

As a key leader within the organization, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive performance search strategy, leveraging technology, machine learning, and advanced analytics to drive efficient and scalable customer acquisition across multiple global markets. As a seasoned marketing executive with deep expertise in performance marketing, and a proven ability to lead high-performing teams in dynamic, competitive environments you will leverage these key experiences in this role.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Global Leadership & Strategy:  Lead and mentor a global team of search marketing professionals, aligning performance search strategies with company growth objectives and managing a significant P&L 

  • Search Engine & Metasearch Optimization: Oversee SEM and Metasearch activities and drive detailed channel analytics, leveraging advanced technology and data-driven insights to improve performance and customer conversions. 

  • Bidding Operations: Build and streamline processes for placing bids across millions of auctions, optimizing bids with machine learning models. 

  • Data-Driven Innovation: Utilize vast data resources for decision-making, continuously optimizing efforts through A/B testing and advanced analytics and staying ahead of industry trends. 

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with product, engineering, data science, and analytics teams to integrate machine learning into marketing processes, and partner with brand leaders to align strategies with business objectives. 

  • Team Development & Leadership: Build and nurture a high performing global team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, and providing professional development opportunities. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • A big picture thinker with the ability and willingness to execute rapidly 

  • 20+ years of experience in digital marketing, with deep expertise in performance marketing across Search Engine Marketing (SEM), Meta Search, and other performance-based acquisition channels. 

  • Proven experience managing a large P&L and driving measurable business growth through performance search strategies. 

  • Strong understanding of machine learning, automation, and technology-driven marketing solutions, with experience integrating these into large-scale marketing operations. 

  • Exceptional leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and inspire large, geographically dispersed teams. 

  • Highly analytical and data-driven, with a track record of using data to inform strategy, optimize performance, and drive business outcomes. 

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and work effectively across cross-functional teams. 

  • Experience in the travel industry or a similarly fast-paced, dynamic environment is highly preferred. 

  • Demonstrated ability in assuming ownership, moving quickly to implement ideas, and delivering measurable results in a fast-paced online environment 

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $296,000 to $415,000. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $474,000, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
