Compensation Range

The base pay scale for this position is $350,000.00 - $387,500.00. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.What you will be doing

The Vice President of Nursing Operations serves as a senior executive leader responsible for advancing the operational, strategic, financial, and professional infrastructure of Nursing across HSS. This role integrates Nursing Education, Professional Development, Inpatient & Nursing Quality, Nursing Strategy & Finance, and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) into a cohesive operating model that drives clinical excellence, workforce sustainability and wellbeing, financial performance, and enterprise alignment.

The VP ensures Nursing is positioned not only as a clinical leader, but as a high-performing, financially disciplined, innovation-oriented strategic partner in advancing HSS’s mission: helping every person live the life they love through the power of movement.

Core Scope of Responsibility

1. Nursing Education & Professional Development

•             Oversees enterprise nursing education, residency programs, fellowship programs, competency management, and leadership development.

•             Ensures professional practice model alignment, Magnet standards sustainability, and regulatory readiness.

•             Advances workforce capability, succession planning, and distributed leadership.

•             Partners with academic institutions to strengthen pipeline and recruitment strategy.

•             Lead and sustain the Magnet program to advance nursing excellence, strengthen professional practice environments, and drive superior clinical, quality, and patient experience outcomes.

2. Inpatient & Nursing Quality

•             Leads inpatient nursing quality performance, including outcome metrics, safety indicators, and performance dashboards.

•             Champions a culture of safety and drives workforce safety and well-being.

•             Partners with Infection Prevention, Quality and Accreditation, and Patient Safety to drive regulatory excellence.

•             Embeds evidence-based practice and continuous improvement methodologies.

•             Ensures alignment between bedside practice and institutional value agenda.

•             Lead the RN call center to improve patient access, care coordination, and service experience, ensuring consistent clinical triage standards and operational excellence.

3. Nursing Strategy & Finance

•             Oversees nursing financial planning, labor management, productivity models, and budget execution.

•             Drives cost discipline while protecting quality and workforce sustainability.

•             Partners with Finance to align nursing resource allocation with institutional growth projections (2026–2028 and beyond).

•             Leads care model redesign, workforce modeling, FTE planning, and capacity strategy to support inpatient and ambulatory growth.

•             Oversee Bed Board, Transfer Center and Nursing Supervisors to enable seamless throughput and capacity planning

•             Supports capital planning and technology investment decisions impacting nursing operations.

4. Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)

•             Provides executive oversight of the APP enterprise.

•             Establishes clear governance, scope optimization, productivity standards, and performance expectations.

•             Partners with Service Line leadership and Medical Staff to integrate APPs into high-reliability care models.

•             Advances APP recruitment, onboarding, development, and retention strategy.

5. Enterprise Nursing Operating Model

•             Integrates Education, Quality, Finance, and APP functions into a disciplined nursing operating system.

•             Establishes clear decision rights, reporting structures, and performance review cadence.

•             Leads operational transformation initiatives in partnership with the COO, CNE, OE and Transformation Office.

•             Advances innovation and digital enablement, AI-supported workflow optimization, and care model redesign where appropriate.
