The AI Network Services team sits within the Fraud and Decisioning group of Security Solutions Organization-leveraging global-scale data, advanced AI, and real-time decisioning to deliver smarter risk management intelligence.
As Vice President, Merchant Risk Scoring Solutions, you will lead the strategy, development, and commercialization of next-generation merchant risk capabilities-transforming how the ecosystem identifies, detects, and mitigates merchant-level fraud and scams at scale. This role is critical to advancing Mastercard's leadership in network intelligence, enabling safer payments while supporting merchant growth and financial inclusion.2) Role
In this role, you will define and scale Mastercard's merchant risk scoring solutions across the global network, leveraging advanced AI/ML, network insights, and ecosystem partnerships to deliver measurable impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Own Product Vision & Strategy:
o Define and manage the long-term vision and roadmap for merchant risk scoring within AI Network Services
o Translate emerging fraud trends (e.g., scams, synthetic merchants, collusive merchants, etc.) into scalable product opportunities
Drive Differentiated Network Value:
o Leverage Mastercard's proprietary network data to create unique, defensible risk insights and solutions for ecosystem participants (Issuers, Acquirers, Merchants)
o Embed AI-driven scoring into authorization, onboarding, and monitoring customer workflows
Lead Product Development & Innovation:
o Partner with data science and engineering teams to develop advanced models (e.g., graph-based risk scoring, behavioral models, anomaly detection) to achieve desired outcomes
o Ensure solutions are scalable, explainable, and compliant across global markets
o Continuously improve model performance through feedback loops and ecosystem data
Commercialization & Client Adoption
o Drive global go-to-market strategy, positioning merchant risk scoring as a core component of Mastercard's fraud and cyber portfolio
o Partner with Sales, Account Management, and regional teams to accelerate adoption across customer segments
o Articulate clear value propositions tied to reduced fraud losses, improved approval rates, and better customer outcomes
Ecosystem Leadership & Partnerships
o Influence industry standards and best practices in merchant risk and fraud prevention
o Identify build/buy/partner opportunities to accelerate capabilities

o Strong familiarity with AI/ML concepts (e.g., predictive modeling, graph analytics, anomaly detection) and their application in fraud and risk

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. Mastercard benefits for interns generally include: 56 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time; jury duty leave; and on-site fitness facilities in some locations.
Pay Ranges
Purchase, New York: $235,000 - $375,000 USD
