Approximately 80% of the role focuses on translating business priorities into market insights, audience strategies, value propositions, integrated plans, and measurable growth opportunities. Success requires proven executive presence, sound judgment, and the ability to deliver evidence-based recommendations that influence heads of lines of business and the executive team. The role identifies high-impact marketing opportunities, recommends priorities and investments, builds alignment, and guides execution through internal teams and agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted marketing strategy advisor to heads of lines of business and the executive team, translating business priorities, client needs, and growth objectives into focused strategies and plans.
  • Develop annual and multi-year strategies for priority businesses, sectors, products, and client segments, including objectives, audiences, positioning, channels, investment requirements, and success measures.
  • Use market, client, competitive, and performance insights, as well as your own creativity, to identify opportunities and guide strategic decisions.
  • Define differentiated value propositions, narratives, and messaging that communicate MUFG’s relevance to priority audiences.
  • Build integrated go-to-market plans across digital, content, email, events, sponsorships, thought leadership, paid media, and banker enablement.
  • Present insight-led recommendations on priorities, trade-offs, and investments; influence decisions and build senior-level alignment.
  • Direct internal specialists and agencies through clear strategic briefs, ensuring execution aligns with business objectives, audience insights, brand standards, and approved strategy.
  • Establish measurement frameworks, assess performance, and recommend optimization and future investment.
  • Strengthen marketing planning, prioritization, intake, and governance to focus resources on high-impact opportunities.
  • Partner with Marketing Operations, Brand, Events, Communications, Compliance, and Legal to ensure strategies are executable, consistent, and compliant.
  • Provide limited communications support when directly connected to an approved marketing initiative.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 15+ years of B2B marketing experience spanning strategy, planning, and senior business advisory. Financial services, corporate banking, or investment banking experience is strongly preferred; experience with technology, mid-sized companies, or start-ups would be beneficial.
  • Proven ability to connect business priorities, client needs, and market opportunities to measurable marketing outcomes through segmentation, positioning, value propositions, and integrated go-to-market plans.
  • Strategic-consulting and creative mindset, with the ability to structure complex problems, synthesize market and performance insights, and translate strategy into clear recommendations, briefs, roadmaps, and execution plans. Consulting experience would be beneficial.
  • Compelling executive presence and credibility, with the ability to advise senior leaders, articulate a clear point of view, challenge constructively, and influence without direct authority.
  • Strong storytelling and communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex financial and business topics for varied audiences.
  • Strong judgment, ownership, and stakeholder management, with the ability to balance competing priorities, maintain strategic focus, and deliver effectively in a matrixed organization.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or a closely-related discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience
