Coast owns the solar systems installed on the roofs of commercial buildings and sells solar electricity to building owners at a rate that is typically less than their current electricity provider. EXPECTED OUTCOMES AND REQUIREMENTS

Coast has identified the need for a Vice President, Mergers and Acqusitions to lead the company’s strategy for channel partnership opportunities related to solar developers and solar EPC’s–  relationships that are crucial to the forward flow of C&I solar and battery storage projects. This individual will lead the company’s third-party origination and acquisition strategy, build out a strategy and team to execute on the strategy, identify suitable companies, establish long-term partnerships, and secure project flow for Coast while qualifying projects that fit Coast’s target profile. Responsibilities include:

Origination Strategy and Leadership

  • Build strategy for business development in key markets and target best-in-class channel partners
  • Contribute to the sales and marketing strategy in target markets and pursue new partner engagements
  • Identify new opportunities and strategies for third party origination and acquisition
  • Lead, manage and grow a team to support the business unit (over time)
  • Identify areas of improvement in Coasts current acquisition framework, including within form documentation, due diligence processes, etc

Partner Relationship and Strategy

  • Establish and grow Coast’s relationships with EPCs and 3rd party developers to originate solar projects
  • Foster trust-based, high-integrity relationships with partners through transparency and honesty
  • Routinely visit in-person with partners to architect sales processes and manage flow pipeline of projects
  • Position Coast as the trusted and knowledgeable partner of choice with exceptional customer support

Project Origination and Acquisition

  • Educate channel partners on Coast’s energy solutions and financing options
  • Build Coast’s pipeline for financeable C&I projects by closing deals efficiently with channel partners
  • Drive opportunities with development partners while coordinating with internal Coast employees and outside counsel to successfully negotiate and complete project acquisitions
  • Manage deal flow collaboratively and transparently with partners for a smooth development process

Project Development

  • Structure scalable clients/partner solutions collaborating with Coast teams, engineers, legal counsel, etc.
  • Interface between multiple Coast business units to optimize development
  • Prepare presentations and present projects to Coast’s investment committee
  • Manage the transition of contracted projects from origination through project acquisition and assist the Coast development team to get projects to Notice to Proceed (“NTP”)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experienced business development professional with a proven track record of managing and developing channel partnership relationships with EPCs and 3rd party developers
  • Deep understanding of early to mid-stage C&I solar development, solar and battery storage project qualification, and 3rd party financing
  • Experience defining and implementing origination strategies to expand C&I development in key markets
  • Experience working with internal and external legal counsel and strong understanding of membership interest purchase agreements and solar project acquisition
  • Relationship-driven with a strong third-party network, prospecting acumen, and a preference for building trust and working collaboratively
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills and an affinity for negotiation and closing deals
  • A trustworthy, empathetic, and servant-oriented leader
  • An innovative and organized self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly
