Job Description:
Parsons has an exciting career opportunity for an experienced and strategic Vice President of Global Trade to lead, enhance, grow and maintain a world-class global trade function that will ensure both proper governance and compliance but will also be a competitive discriminator for the company and a business growth driver. You will be chartered with leading the strategic vision and execution of our global trade practices and reinforcing our reputation as a trusted partner within federal defense, intelligence and critical infrastructure markets.
The preferred location for this position is within the Washington DC area. Willingness to travel if not located in the preferred location. Minimal travel to international sites.
What You'll Be Doing:
Leadership
Leading Parson’s global trade function across all regions and businesses, including managing a high-performing team of 2-4 global trade professionals as well as serving as the Company’s Empowered Official
Strategy
Shaping, executing and driving global trade strategy aligned with our business initiatives, risk landscape, and growth strategy
Advisor
Providing strategic advice and counsel to senior leadership on trade risks, regulatory developments and discriminating positioning for global operations, pursuits and partnerships as they related to global trade
Compliance
Overseeing compliance with export controls, import regulations, ITAR/EAR, sanctions, customs requirements and related cross-border trade laws.
Risk
Designing and sustaining a trade compliance governance model that evolves with the emerging regulatory landscape and balances risk, to include policy, procedure, practice, controls, escalation, contingency planning, communication channels and monitoring and reporting
International Business
Close partnerships and fosters collaboration with business leaders to support international growth and project execution
Licensing & Authorization
Implementing export and import licensing strategies, jurisdictions /classification determinations, sanction reviews, and government authorization process
Cross-Functional Integration
Establishing solid alignment of global trade requirements across legal, procurement, contracts, logistics, supply chain, HR, cybersecurity, engineering and program management functions
Audit & Monitoring
Accountable for leading enterprise monitoring, testing, internal reviews, and corrective action programs to ensure effectiveness of trade compliance controls
Global Perspective
Educating on operations, cultural, and regulatory complexity of international business environments
Engagement
Act as the senior company representative for trade compliance matters involving government agencies, auditors, outside counsel and regulatory authorities
Technology
Leveraging technology, including AI to drive efficiency and effectiveness across the portfolio
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in international business, law, supply chain, public policy or business administration
Leadership
Executive presence with a minimum of 12+ years of experience and demonstrated success leading global trade compliance, export controls, customs, sanctions or international regulatory affairs.
Expertise
Deep knowledge of export/import frameworks, sanction programs, custom requirements and international trade regulations
Influence
Proven ability to strategically influence executive decision-making and continued evolution of maturing our global trade compliance strategy with business operations and growth objectives
Partnerships
Demonstrated experience building partnerships and fostering collaboration in support of international programs, government agencies and complex border programs and transactions
Program Management
Strong capabilities in governance, risk assessment, highly regulated environments, and internal controls
