JOB SUMMARY

As a key member of the Executive Management team, the VP-Finance assumes a strategic leadership role in the overall management and financial stewardship of the organization. The position provides leadership, direction, and oversight for Finance, Treasury, Capital Planning and Management, Supply Chain, Revenue Cycle, Health Information Management, Materials Management, and Investment Management, ensuring the efficient and effective utilization of System resources in support of organizational goals and strategic priorities.

Serving as a trusted executive leader of the Vitruvian team, the VP-Finance works collaboratively with Executive Management, Governance, clinical and operational leaders, and other key stakeholders throughout the health system. This role is expected to be a visible, approachable, and highly respected leader who builds strong relationships across the organization and serves as a “go-to” resource for financial and business matters.

The VP-Finance maintains a holistic understanding of the clinical, operational, and financial impacts of business decisions and effectively evaluates and presents financial options to support informed decision-making. The role provides timely financial information, operational analytics, financial modeling and pro forma analysis to support strategic initiatives, service line development, capital planning, and growth opportunities. Provides leadership in forecasting and performance measurement against budget, while promoting a culture of accountability, financial discipline, and continuous performance improvement.

Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer, the VP-Finance advances the organization’s strategic and financial priorities, translates those priorities into actionable financial and business plans, and supports a metric-driven approach to financial management. The role appropriately challenges assumptions, provides well-substantiated recommendations and dissenting opinions when warranted, and works collaboratively with clinical, operational, and executive leaders to maximize organizational performance while ensuring the delivery of high-quality care.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Business or Healthcare Administration required. Masters in Business Administration or Finance required unless licensed as Certified Public Accountant.

Licensure: Licensure as Certified Public Accountant required if no Masters’ degree.

Experience: A minimum of seven years progressive healthcare financial management experience including three years executive level experience.  Strong revenue cycle oversight experience a must.

                                   

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Works in a typical office setting.  Requires sitting for long periods of time with heavy to moderate amount of work performed in front of a computer monitor and with moderate to light amount of walking, stooping and bending.  The incumbent is subject to lengthy workdays, week-end and irregular hours.  Must be able to coordinate multiple tasks and work under stress with frequent disruptions.  Intense mental effort required to meet deadlines, perform analysis, etc.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Healthcare Administration
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or Finance, unless licensed as a Certified Public Accountant
