Accountabilities/Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of this role are to lead the design, development and delivery of Enterprise and Non-Financial Risk reporting and insights within the Non-Financial Risk team. This involves:
- Lead the design, development and delivery of M&G plc’s risk reporting strategy and framework
- Lead the design, development and implementation of a governance framework for risk data and reporting
- Lead the development of data models and trusted risk datasets to improve consistency, transparency, and auditability of risk metrics across the firm
- Lead the development of new multi-dimensional dashboards and interactive reports (for example, through PowerBI) to provide timely, decision‑useful insight for senior management and other stakeholders.
- Leverage technology to support development of efficient, automated reporting solutions by integrating PowerBI and other solutions with existing Risk systems.
- Work with Operations and Technology partners to ensure a high quality of data is feeding from the Governance Risk and Compliance system.
- Working to develop and integrate AI solutions to provide additional insights.
- Collaborate with the wider Risk and Compliance teams as well as 1LOD and 3LOD teams to drive improvements and enhancements.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, regulatory and business issues.
- Proactively identify underlying risks and escalate issues where appropriate.

Reporting, Data & Insight
- Architect and lead the implementation of the enterprise Risk Data Lake on Microsoft Fabric or Azure
- Define and own the end‑to‑end Risk data platform strategy, covering ingestion via Azure Data Factory and Fabric Data Pipelines, transformation using Databricks or Fabric notebooks, and delivery through Power BI Direct Lake, semantic models, and curated Risk data products.
- Establish and govern a standardized medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) designed specifically for GRC, Risk, Issue, Event, and Regulatory Reporting data domains, embedding controls for data quality, lineage, and audit traceability by design.
- Lead platform and technology selection decisions, evaluating Microsoft Fabric Warehouse, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Databricks SQL Warehouse based on cost efficiency, performance, latency, scalability, and team capability, and defining the target‑state Risk analytics architecture.
- Design robust integration patterns between MetricStream (or equivalent GRC platforms) and Azure/Fabric, including REST API ingestion, event‑driven pipelines, CDC mechanisms, and batch export strategies, with demonstrated experience supporting near‑real‑time and streaming Risk data.
- Strong expertise in developing and delivering reporting and management information in a financial services environment.
- Proven ability to work with complex, multi‑source data to produce consistent, comparable and decision‑useful insight.
- Strong understanding of data governance, control, data quality, lineage and auditability.
- Experience ensuring reporting and data solutions meet governance, control and regulatory expectations.
Technology & Analytics
- Strong knowledge of analytics, reporting platforms and methodologies (e.g. Power BI and related tooling).
- Experience leading technology‑enabled reporting and data initiatives, including integration with GRC and core risk systems and driving process automation and continuous improvement.
- Ability to translate business requirements into reporting, analytics and data solutions.
- Strong analytical thinking and a critical evaluator of information/issues.
