About the Role 

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated leader to join our scaling SaaS company as the Vice President of Engineering. As the VP of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing our engineering teams to ensure the successful execution of our product development and engineering initiatives. Your focus will be on driving innovation, optimizing processes, and maintaining high-quality software delivery to meet our customers' needs and drive scalable practices as we continue our rapid growth.

How You’ll Contribute   

  • Engineering Team Leadership: Serve as a visionary and inspirational leader for the engineering department.  Mentor managers and guide the team, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. 
  • Execution Strategy: In partnership with the SVP Engineering, collaborate with the executive team to develop and implement engineering strategies aligned with the company's overall goals and vision. Establish and communicate clear objectives and key results (OKRs) to drive the team's execution. 
  • Product Development Oversight: Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from ideation to release, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget while maintaining high quality and adherence to best practices. 
  • Process Optimization: Continuously assess and improve engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance productivity, efficiency, and overall engineering excellence. 
  • Resource Management: Work closely with managers to allocate engineering resources effectively, balancing workloads, identifying skill gaps, and facilitating skill development and training programs. 
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and expertise to the engineering teams, offering support in complex problem-solving, architectural decisions, and technical challenges. 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments such as product management and support, to ensure effective communication, alignment, and seamless integration of engineering efforts with other business functions. 
  • Quality Assurance and Testing: Oversee the implementation of robust testing processes, quality assurance measures, and best practices to deliver stable and reliable software solutions. 
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and proactively develop mitigation plans to ensure project success and minimize any potential negative impact on the company. 
  • Innovation and Research: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to foster a culture of innovation and ensure our products remain competitive and cutting-edge. 

 

Who You Are 

  • Proven track record of at least 10 years of experience in software engineering and development, with at least 5 years in leadership roles. 
  • Experience building and developing teams of 50+ team members across multiple offices, acquisitions, and offshore partners. 
  • Experience building and delivering SaaS solutions, with a deep understanding of SaaS product development and deployment processes. 
  •  Strong technical background with expertise in software engineering principles, architecture, development methodologies, and languages/frameworks, including C#, React, SQL Server, and Azure. 
  • Solid understanding of Agile development methodologies and project management principles. 
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead and inspire high-performing engineering teams. 
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to align technical strategies with business objectives. 
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and a data-driven approach to decision-making. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively. 
  • A passion for continuous learning, self-improvement, and staying updated with the latest advancements in technology.
