The Role

About this role:

Wells Fargo Rail is seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead a team of engineers which are responsible for the reliability and availability of a fleet of approximately 130,000 railcars.  

In this role, you will:

  • Lead, develop, mentor, and hire new talent for the Wells Fargo Rail Engineering team.
  • Collaborate and work across the organization to provide technical guidance for the purpose of facilitating asset leases and provide a world class customer experience.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for all activities associated with fleet acquisitions, inspections, and maintenance.
  • Participate in rail industry committees and trade organizations, as needed, to stay current with potential regulatory changes, technical advancements, and/or disruptive activities that could influence the Wells Fargo Rail fleet.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development.
  • Establish performance standards, evaluate performance, train and mentor team
  • Develop and assist in developing policies and procedures, training materials
  • Make decisions and resolve issues regarding objectives and operations of the fleet assets in Rail Operations area to meet business objectives
  • Interpret and develop policies and procedures for functions with low to moderate complexity within scope of responsibility
  • Lead team to achieve objectives

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Rail Operations experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 2+ years of leadership experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with and broad knowledge of freight and tank car design and maintenance practices that are in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Deep knowledge of all applicable rail industry rules, polices, guidelines and regulations (AAR, FRA, AMPP, etc.)
  • Engineering degree from an accredited institution.

Job Expectations:

  • This position offers a hybrid work schedule.

Salary range is determined by location of the job. May be considered for a discretionary bonus, Restricted Share Rights, or other long-term incentive awards.

Salary is just one component of Wells Fargo's total rewards package. Depending on the role, a Wells Fargo's employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).

$122,200.00 - $217,200.00
