Job Summary:
RRNA is seeking a Vice President, Development to lead the development of utility-scale wind, solar and energy storage projects in the Western United States We are looking for an experienced leader to successfully oversee project execution while also expanding the portfolio through greenfield prospecting, specifically in WECC, CAISO and SPP market expansion. This role reports to the Chief Development Officer, and the position is based in Houston.
Responsibilities:
Lead and support the identification, evaluation, and development of renewable energy project opportunities, including wind, solar and energy storage projects.
Set regional development strategy in partnership with executive leadership, aligning market selection, technology mix, greenfield development, and project acquisition priorities with corporate growth objectives.
Evaluate and balance portfolio risk across site acquisition, permitting, transmission, offtake, regulatory, and policy dimensions.
Oversee integration and advancement of acquired projects to ensure consistency with development standards and investment criteria.
Maintain accountability for projects from advanced greenfield stage through NTP and COD.
Oversee late-stage development activities including interconnection, permitting, land control, transmission solutions, offtake support, and tax credit readiness.
Ensure projects meet de-risking, financing, and capital deployment requirements.
Coordinate disciplined handoffs from development into pre-construction and construction while retaining accountability through financial close.
Build, mentor, and scale high-performing development teams across multiple geographies and technologies.
Establish consistent development processes, stage-gates, reporting cadence, and execution KPIs.
Establish and maintain network of relationships with regional stakeholders, including, but not limited to government officials, federal and state regulatory agencies, regional utilities and NGOs
Prepare regular reports on regional pipeline status, and lead periodic meetings on regional commercial strategy
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and execution excellence.
Qualifications
15+ years of experience in utility-scale power project development with leadership responsibility across multiple ISOs/RTOs and across multiple generation technologies.
Demonstrated experience leading large-scale wind, solar, and energy storage portfolios.
Proven track record managing and scaling geographically distributed development teams.
Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills, including the ability to achieve results with cross-functional, multi-department project teams
Ability to manage multiple projects effectively while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
Ability to be self-motivated and work effectively with minimal supervision
Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
Strong analytical, strategic and problem-solving skills
Strong understanding of project finance, tax credits, interconnection processes, and late-stage execution.
Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree (MDA/J.D.) a plus.
