Serving as a subject matter expert, you will bridge the gap between data providers and consumers, ensuring that business data is not only understood and fit for purpose but also well-governed.
As a Data Owner Lead within our data management team, you will play a pivotal role in advancing business operations and strategic objectives by serving as a subject matter expert and key liaison between data providers and consumers. You will be an integral part of maturing and deepening our data risk management practices, leveraging your deep expertise in data assets to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements across the 60+ countries where JPMC operates-including privacy, retention and destruction, storage localization, and data quality. You will own the adoption of advanced data management techniques such as data contracts, data use agreements, publishing standards, and statistics-based data quality controls. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will identify and prioritize data needs, ensuring that data is understood, fit for purpose, well-governed, and protected. Your leadership will foster a culture that values data as a trusted asset, supporting organizational growth and competitive advantage. As a Data Owner Lead, you will manage projects, implement strategic data plans, and work with partners to ensure data is well-documented and controlled, while leading efforts to mitigate data risks and enhance data quality for effective decision-making and innovation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of data solutions that help achieve business goals and improve operations, in line with organizational strategy.
- Oversee projects and key milestones, identifying and addressing risks, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies to ensure successful outcomes.
- Work closely with partners to ensure important data is clearly described and classified, making it easier to understand and manage.
- Gather and document requirements for data sources, content, and quality, coordinating with technology and business teams to ensure data is timely, complete, and accurate.
- Help develop and maintain processes to identify and address data risks, including those related to data protection, retention, storage, use, and quality.
- Assist in supporting analytics and data products by helping to identify and manage the data needed for analytics projects.
- Communicate and resolve data-related issues promptly, helping to maintain data integrity and trust among data users.
- Guide and support team members in carrying out data-related tasks and initiatives.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as MIS, Business Analytics, Risk Management or similar.
- 5+ years of experience in data management, governance, risk management, analytics, or related areas.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with a track record of managing projects and helping teams meet organizational goals.
- Solid understanding of data management and governance principles, including data protection, quality, and classification
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to connect data concepts to business needs.
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leaders.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and manage large-scale data initiatives.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Experience working with cloud-based data platforms and technologies (e.g., AWS).
- Basic familiarity with analytics, machine learning, or artificial intelligence in a business setting.
- Basic knowledge of query or analytical programming languages.
- Experience supporting digital transformation initiatives that use data to drive business improvement and innovation.
