Overview:
This role provides senior, independent Second Line of Defense oversight of credit risk across the Brazil portfolio. The Vice President is accountable for Brazil credit risk governance, regulatory compliance, credit risk standards, and oversight of First Line credit risk management frameworks. The role represents Credit Risk at regulator, committee, and senior stakeholder forums, ensuring alignment between local regulatory requirements and global Credit Risk standards.
Role:
Credit Risk Governance & Oversight• Provide independent Second Line oversight of credit risk across Brazil as established by MA in accordance with Regulation 522• Ensure adherence to local and global risk appetite, policies, and standards, including first line Customer Risk Management adherence to the overall Credit Risk Framework• Maintain accountability for credit risk frameworks and governance documentation• Challenge and approve material policy exceptions• Align with global Credit policy, standards, guidance and local regulations
Risk Rating Framework & Methodology• Oversee Brazil Credit Risk Assessment framework, credit stress testing, back-testing, and controls• Govern overrides and model performance monitoring• Oversee semi-annual adequacy test of the Credit Risk Framework, in line with MA Brazil Credit Policy and Central Bank expectations• Own local standards for rating methodologies and Expected Loss• Explore the use of technology enhancements to improve and streamline the operationalization of the credit risk assessment framework
Portfolio & Risk Appetite Oversight• Provide oversight of portfolio performance, concentrations, and emerging risks• Monitor portfolio metrics against approved risk appetite and tolerance levels• Ensure timely escalation of material risk deterioration and forward-looking risk concerns• Acting under relevant delegated authority, review and approve customer unwriting proposed by the first line of defense
Regulatory & Stakeholder Engagement• Act as the senior Credit Risk representative for Brazil with local regulators and Brazil Risk Committee• Lead Credit Risk engagement during regulatory reviews, examinations, and audits• Partner with senior stakeholders across Business, Finance, Compliance, and Risk
Leadership & Strategic Contribution• Provide senior leadership and direction within the Credit Risk function• Contribute to global and regional credit risk initiatives and framework enhancements• Support development of credit risk talent through mentoring and professional guidance
Decision Making Authority• Approval authority for credit policy standards and exceptions• Escalation authority for breaches of risk appetite• Ownership of Brazil credit risk frameworks
All About You:
• Advanced credit risk management expertise across financial institutions and/or corporate portfolios• Deep understanding of Expected Loss frameworks including PD, LGD, EAD and stress testing• Strong knowledge of credit risk rating systems, model governance, and control frameworks• Executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills• Strong strategic and commercial mindset • Deep analytical and data-driven decision-making capability • Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks • Ability to balance growth and risk• 12-18+ years in [banking, payments, fintech, risk management]• Proven experience in [credit risk strategy, portfolio management, analytics]• Experience operating across global or regional markets• Experience engaging regulators and governance forums• Leadership experience in regulated financial institutions• Proven ability to influence in a matrix organization • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and driving change • Strong stakeholder management at executive level • Demonstrated inclusive leadership style• Acts as a role model for risk culture, governance discipline, and ethical decision-making• Exercises independent judgement while constructively challenging the First Line• Demonstrates accountability, resilience, and sound professional judgement
